Things to do stoned: Just a bunch of hippy dippy

Things to do Stoned: Just a bunch of hippy dippy

It’s hard to deny that the effects of weed can make you feel great when you have things to do stoned. Food tastes better, music sounds amazing, even the colors seem to jump out at you and more appealing to the eye. Your body tends to slows down and you can really appreciate life at a whole new speed. I mean, have you ever hiked while stoned? Simply looking at your surroundings and seeing the flowers grow from the earth, humming birds casually flying buy.

It’s simply beautiful.

A bunch of hippy- dippy talk. But it’s so true, there happens to be so much truth to this ”hippy-dippy” talk. Take into consideration the details you notices while stoned. The physical world around you seems to change almost to a point of being reborn, it is a feeling so unique, you must experience it for yourself to understand.

It’s the euphoric feeling. The feeling of complete bliss.

So lets get into this “hippy-dippy” thing. What are some beautiful things to do while stoned?

Cooking a great meal: Most of my best dishes are made while stoned, something about putting on some dinner tunes ( something jazzy) and getting lost in the kitchen to my spices, veggies and various items just gives me the best meals. One day, explaining to my non smoking family, I noticed their faces. They were all laughing at me. As I explained to them how it feels to slice into the pepper. The crunch of the carrot hearing the sizzle from the pan, coconut oil melting in the pan the smell of the foods while being mixed together… well I could just go on, when I stopped and looked at them it was clear as day. It was “hippy-dippy” talk. I gave myself a good chuckle. It was like a scene from a “ typical pot” movie.

hippie dippie

Finger paint: I’m quite lucky in this part. A mother to a very artistic son, I bought him a Buddha board and we tend to enjoy a little art together. But why finger painting? Its messy, it gets every where, constantly having to wash you hands when switching colors. Most people I talk to about finger painting would rather use a brush. The reason I love using my hands is not only am I a physical person, but it’s the idea of letting the paint do what ever. It becomes a dance. Letting go, stepping away from “proper’ color and just letting your fingers dance across the page. It gives me a smile as I think about it. Its just.. peaceful.

hippie dippie 3

Garden: Dirt in my hands fresh air from the plants, it just feels good be stoned and planting. It gives off a clean feeling. Plants purify the air the dirt gives off the earthy smell, and the feeling of it slipping through your fingers and planting new life into the earth. Myself, I have over 30 plants, 3 times a month I take them down bathe them washing their leaves and give them some tender love and care. Putting them back in place or even rearranging them I can feel a new energy sweep around my house.

Yoga: Yoga is the one activity/ workout I can do stoned. We all know how good music is while high, we’ve been to concerts/ festivals stoned and it just feels good. We get lost in the music and sounds around us. Zening or zoning out, letting the music move our body’s in anyway it feels. Energy flowing through you. Yoga is like dancing, I love smoking a j putting on my go to yoga tunes turning out the lights. Just letting the movement talk for my feelings. Pushing out negative energy and bringing in peace kindness and love, here rim able to forgive and let go. Leaving my soul peaceful and full of gratitude.

There are a lot of things to do while stoned and they all have different effects on the body. I’m not the one to say that these 4 things to do while stoned are the best. But I can vouch for each one of them. If you were to ask me what my favorite thing to do while stoned it would be yoga, write and garden. Just a bunch of “hippo- dippy” stuff.

How Cannabis Changes Your Sleep Cycle

How Cannabis Changes Your Sleep Cycle

Cannabis can help you fall asleep faster. With sedative effects, it has the ability to relieve stress and help you physically relax, which can make it easier to drift off to sleep and get some rest.

Using cannabis can be particularly helpful for people who have conditions that make it difficult to sleep well. People who suffer from PTSD, insomnia, pain, and other conditions can use marijuana to relieve the symptoms that can interfere with sleep.

Cannabis may relieve symptoms of sleep disorders including sleep apnea by supporting better breathing. Dronabinol, an exogenous cannabinoid, improved sleep apnea symptoms in almost all of the participants in a 2013 study.

How Cannabis Changes Your Sleep Cycle

Research suggests that cannabidiol (CBD) may have therapeutic potential for treating insomnia. CBD also shows potential for treating REM sleep behavior disorder and excessive daytime sleepiness. THC can make it easier to fall asleep, however, THC use could impair long term sleep quality.
How Cannabis Changes Sleep

Using cannabis before bedtime can cause changes in your sleep cycle, reducing the time spent in rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. This is the final stage of your sleep cycle and is the time in which you dream. When you use cannabis before bed, you may not have as many dreams, or your dreams may be less vivid.

If you’re a long term user of cannabis, taking a break or discontinuing use may cause temporary sleep disruptions. It can be more difficult to fall asleep, and you may experience shorter sleep time, less slow wave sleep, shorter REM cycles, and lessened sleep efficiency.

Choosing Strains That Can Help You Sleep

Typically, sativa strains can be energizing and uplifting, which may not be a good choice for sleep. Indica is usually a better choice for sleepy effects. Indica is believed to contain more relaxing and sedating terpenes than sativa strains.

stonerdays space socksAged cannabis can improve sleepy effects. As THC oxidizes, it converts to CBN, which is associated with more sedative effects than fresh cannabis. Some users age their own cannabis, but some producers are creating CBN products including oils, edibles, capsules, and patches.

Inhaling marijuana can deliver a faster effect that helps you go to sleep more quickly. However, the effects of cannabis-infused edibles can last for a longer period of time, and help you stay asleep longer.

Pairing Cannabis With Healthy Sleep Habits

Although cannabis can help support good sleep, it’s not a replacement for healthy sleep habits. You can improve your sleep by maintaining good sleep hygiene and using cannabis to help you relax and drift off to sleep.

Give yourself enough time to sleep. Make sleep a priority, reserving about eight hours a night so that you can get the seven to seven and a half hours of sleep the average adult needs.

Create a healthy sleep environment. It can be difficult to sleep well if you’re in an environment that’s not conducive to sleep. You should have a mattress that appropriately meets your needs, and your bedroom should be cool, dark, and quiet.

Talk to your doctor about sleep disorders. Although cannabis can help with sleep disorders including insomnia and sleep apnea, it’s not a replacement for diagnosis and treatment. Discuss sleep difficulties with your doctor and how you may be able to incorporate cannabis in your treatment.

Maintain a regular cannabis and sleep schedule. Going to bed at the same time each night and waking up at the same time each day can help you fall asleep easier. The same is true for maintaining a regular bedtime routine, in which you go through the same few steps before bed every night.

Keep your evenings relaxing. Avoid caffeine, late night screen time, and vigorous exercise before bed, as these can be too energizing and interfere with sleep. It’s best to relax before bed, potentially incorporating cannabis into your evening routine for better sleep.

How Does Smoking Marijuana Affect Weightlifting?

How Does Smoking Marijuana Affect Weightlifting?

We’re living in times of big changes. How does marijuana affect weightlifting?  Well, as technological progress occurs faster, the first AI has been granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia. The number of people living in urban areas is increasingly rising. People are turning their focus from fossil fuels to find ways to utilize renewable energy sources. Another big change is the legalization of marijuana in several states of the U.S. More than half of them deemed it illegal by 1931 (the massive unemployment during the Great Depression led to an increased fear of Mexican immigrants who introduced the recreational use of marijuana, having the American government condemn cannabis as dangerous).

cannabis and weightliftingNowadays, the plant’s medical benefits are being acknowledged, even by professional athletes. Cannabis helps increase our appetite, pain threshold, and helps with post-workout recovery. When it comes to using cannabis to improve weightlifting efforts and results, the effects actually vary depending on the person using it. We are here to explore the dilemma regarding the plants’ potential effects on hormones, behavior, and cognition.

The endocannabinoid system and weightlifting

One of the most important and far-reaching systems in the human body is the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which refers to a series of cell receptors and corresponding molecules. The two main cell receptors, CB-1 and CB-2 are bound in our brains and bodies by cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), through marijuana consumption. The binding of CB-1 and CB-2 by exogenous cannabinoids impacts several metabolic processes.

The ECS controls pain sensation, appetite, temperature regulation, stress reactivity, sleep, immune function, and many other processes. Muscle and fat tissues utilize these cell receptors as well to control their own processes. Thus, a marijuana smoking habit can be perceived as a way to hack into our metabolism and affect certain processes.

Weightlifters pay much attention to their nutrition, as it’s highly important for their muscle building goals. When activated by dronabinol CB-1 prompts the release of hormones that promote hunger. This can mean the world to all the weightlifters out there. The effects can be produced only by short-term cannabis use. Chronic marijuana users usually experience a decrease in appetite. THC has a weaker impact on appetite than 2-AG (a naturally-produced endocannabinoid molecule). Cannabis binds the CB-1 receptor, which results in an appetite decrease due to downregulation of CB-1 receptors, and eventually – weight loss.

Physical performance

There are several studies that showed how marijuana impairs human psychomotor abilities. Today, certain pro athletes have become major cannabis advocates, claiming that it also helps them with post-workout recovery, making it one of the cannabis trends in the industry that needs to be considered responsibly.

Muscle building: Kush Ups

We mentioned performance enhancement with runners and extreme athletes, but what about weightlifters? How does cannabis consumption affect muscle building? This requires a discussion of its effect on human hormones. The human growth hormone (HGH) and testosterone as two of the most important hormones that influence muscle growth.

When it comes to testosterone, there are studies that found a decrease in testosterone, as well as those that found no effect on testosterone levels, in addition to normal levels of follicle stimulating hormone, prolactin, and luteinizing hormone.

The legalization of cannabis in the U.S. hasn’t been conducted across the entire country, with a few ridiculous laws pertaining to cannabis still remaining. Weightlifters may benefit from appetite increase and post-workout recovery. The fact is that cannabis won’t impair your body’s ability to perform and build muscle. Just keep yourself disciplined when enjoying the herb. Don’t let it affect your dieting and training plans. You’ll manage to break through your physical plateaus and build muscle.

Medical Marijuana: Do you Qualify for a Legal Card?

Medical Marijuana: Do you Qualify for a Legal Card

Medical Marijuana: Do you Qualify for a Legal Card?

Smoking medical marijuana is a great way to get some pain relief from certain medical conditions. However, the process of obtaining a legal card for medical marijuana is not as straightforward as you may think. In fact, there are certain conditions you need to fulfill before being granted one, starting with the following:

  1. Proof of residence

You will need to present some kind of proof as to where you’re from. Fortunately, this is the easy part, since a government-issued documents like a driver’s license will do just fine.

Still, you need to bear in mind that although medical marijuana is legal in Canada. It’s only legal in 23 countries in the U.S. as of yet. The good news is that things are gradually improving. With each passing year, additional states seem to be legalizing it.

Medical Marijuana Legal Card

  1. Eligible medical condition

If you’ve established you live in a country or state where medical marijuana is legal; the next step is to check if your medical condition is on the list of qualifying ones. Again, this varies from country to country, so it’s best to check the local laws to make sure.

But generally speaking, you’ve got great chances of being eligible. Those who suffer from cancer, HIV, anorexia, PTSD, nausea, hepatitis C, etc., are almost guaranteed to be successful.

  1. Medical documents

You will still need a valid signature on a document issued by your doctor. This could be particularly challenging, since even though you may be fully qualified for a legal card. Not all doctors are in favor of medical marijuana in general, and thus, are not willing to prescribe it.

Medical Marijuana Legal Card

Luckily, there are certain clinics who are openly in favor of medical marijuana, so if you want to know more about them, click here to learn more. Alternatively, you can also do your own research and discover a clinic that’s located close to where you live. In any case, if you believe your symptoms make you a qualified candidate. It’s only a matter of time until you find a doctor who’s going to agree with you.

While you’re still going to do some research on your own to get the much-needed answers for your local area of residence, you’re now equipped with the general knowledge of what it takes to get a legal card for medical marijuana. Good luck in your endeavors!

Cannabis Sleep – 10 Things For Your Herbal Nightcap

Cannabis Sleep – 10 Things For Your Herbal Nightcap

Before bed, many people choose cannabis sleep. Marijuana is offering new hope for those who suffer with chronic sleep issues. With 88% of Americans approving the medical use of marijuana, according to a 2017 CBS News poll, it may be time to change up your current nightcap of choice.

With more than 60 million people in the United States currently experiencing issues with their sleep patterns according to American Sleep Association, it’s never been a better time to take advantage of the changes in legislation. Instead of a glass of wine or a sleeping pill, cannabis before you sleep will have you catching your zzz’s. If you’re an insomniac who’s weighing their options, here are some things to consider before you decided to give it a try. Guilhem Vellut. Marijuana. 2005. Web. Nov 7. 2017.

A Small Dose

It’s easy enough to think that a few puffs will do when it comes to inhaling cannabis and sleep, but it’s important to be aware that there can be too much of a good thing and using marijuana as a sleep aid is no different. Taking a few too many inhalations can easily lead to early-morning grogginess, so you’ll want to wade into your pre-sleep use slowly and get familiar with the drug’s impacts first.

Consider the Strain

cannabis and sleep marijuana nugIf you’re interested in marijuana as a sleep aid, it might seem like it’s all the same, but there are a number of strains to choose from and you’ll want to be informed about which one will work best for your needs. Indica can be a comforting, relaxing strain while a Hybrid is a combination of different strains, but it’s important to consult with your doctor or a healthcare professional first to determine what they would recommend.

Timing is Everything

The impact that inhaling marijuana will have on cannabis and sleep depends on many factors. Sometimes it can be hard to know exactly when it will hit you. Much like determining the proper dosage, you’ll need to time it as best you can. According to Harvard-trained physician Dr. Jordan Tishler, “They are unreliable about when they’ll kick in. Sometimes it’s about one hour, other times it can be more like two to three hours.” As a result, Tishler suggests taking your dose about one hour before bed to avoid upset.

Don’t Overdo It

With legalization occurring in many places, marijuana can certainly be a viable way of dealing with insomnia, but it’s important not to take its sleep-savvy abilities for granted. Prolonged use can cause changes to the brain that have an impact on cognitive functioning, so ensure that you use it in moderation and not as a daily antidote to ongoing sleep issues.

Reducing REM Sleep

There are two strains of cannabis, cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and according to study by NCBI, using marijuana with a higher amount of THC will lead to less REM sleep. REM is important when it comes to regular cognitive functioning and feeling well rested, so it’s important to be aware of what you’ll be inhaling.

Try Some Tea

cannabis and sleep tea herbal medication
Cannabis and sleep – try some tea!

Once you’ve figured out the ideal dosage you may want to consider pairing it with a cup of chamomile tea. Because chamomile possesses sedative qualities, it can actually add a little bit of kick to your herbal nightcap. If chamomile doesn’t do the trick, you may want to try lavender oil or a melatonin supplement instead.

Cannabis and Sleep – Reducing Pain

Many people may not have to endure the effects of a troubled sleep. Dealing with chronic pain can be just as problematic when it comes to counting sheep. Fortunately, with its inherent medicinal qualities, a little bit of strains of the leaf can work to reduce pain and help users enjoy a more restful sleep.

Lengthening Your Rest

While cannabis can improve the nighttime hours for insomniacs, it’s also possible that it can lead to longer periods of uninterrupted sleep for those who use it. It’s just important to determine the dosage that will give you the required result so that you don’t have to deal with any inhalation hangovers or other symptoms associated with ingestion.

The Ideal Ingestion

Alongside dosage, you’ll want to determine the ideal way to ingest marijuana for maximum impact before you go to bed. Smoking it may lead to an instant reaction, while edibles can take a little bit of time to kick in. Before deciding on one or the other, do some bedtime experiments to see what gives you the best result.

Use Cannabis and Sleep With Caution

It’s important that marijuana isn’t the only solution to chronic sleep issues for a variety of health reasons. However, it’s also important to know that the effects of the drug can actually wear off overtime. While a little bit of use can help, some studies have shown that daily use gives way to more sleep disturbances in the long term.

What Is a Weed Hangover? How Do You Survive It?

What Is a Weed Hangover? How Do You Survive It?

Anyone who wakes up feeling extra foggy and out of sorts after a heavy night of smoking may have a cannabis hangover. It is common, and any serious user knows exactly how it feels. Similar to drinking too much alcohol, weed hangovers are a very real thing. Although the symptoms are never as severe as drinking too many shots of Jack Daniels, the explanation is exact – you took too much and overdid it.

Symptoms of a Marijuana Hangover

As with alcohol, weed hangovers are not something that everybody gets all of the time. Some people get hangovers after drinking excessively, but do not experience the same from weed. Waking up stoned and groggy is still widespread though, and those that eat edibles, use tinctures, or take concentrates may feel the after-effects more severely. So, what exactly are the symptoms of a cannabis hangover?

·      Headaches

weed headache

The most common side effect of excessive consumption of marijuana is a throbbing head. Dehydration typically causes headaches, and this is the primary complaint of those describing what a weed hangover feels like. If you struggle with headaches in the mornings, then your natural instinct may be to drink more water. Listen to this gut instinct and keep well hydrated when smoking weed in the future.

·      Red Eyes

red eyes gif

Red eyes are another widely reported symptom of a pot hangover. Smoking causes red eyes in most people, many of which rely on using copious amounts of eye drops and fitful sleep to clear it. However, when your eyes are still fiery the next day, it can be a clue that last night’s shenanigans maybe went too far. The cannabinoids in weed slow tear and saliva glands, which causes red eyes and “cotton mouth.”

·      Mental Fogginess

mental marijuana

If you wake up and wonder, for even a second, where or who you are, then you had too much fun the night before. Morning confusion is a classic symptom of a weed hangover. Jump-starting the brain after a deep cannabis-induced sleep can take several time-precious moments, which many claim impossible without a shower, breakfast, and good, strong coffee. Your head should clear as the day progresses.

Surviving a Cannabis Hangover

cannabis hangover

Marijuana hangovers can affect anyone using weed, regardless of whether they are new to it or old connoisseurs. Critics claim that weed cannot give anyone a hangover, and that people are simply still high when they wake up after a night of heavy use. This does make perfect sense but, being a problem of the night before, the effects of a weed hangover are still undeniable. This is what to do about it:

Drink Water

weed hangover

Because headaches are typically the result of dehydration, drinking water often helps to make them go away. Hydrate yourself if you have a marijuana hangover. You will feel much better after two or three big glasses of good old H20, and keep drinking as much water as you can stomach during the day.

Consume Caffeine

coffee and weed

Being a stimulant, caffeine might just be what you need to wake up properly and clear any lingering fogginess from your head. If you do not enjoy coffee, consider other caffeinated drinks. Anything that acts as a stimulant should help you to jump-start your day after a long night of heavy weed use.

Eat Breakfast

wake and bake breakfast

Breakfast will always be the go-to cure for any hangover, including a cannabis one. The sight and smell of a big, greasy breakfast resolves the problem for most people. Vegetarians or grease-avoiding folk may not find this solution appealing. Regardless of your preferences, make sure that you eat something solid.

Stay Active

Keeping yourself busy will help you forget about your cannabis hangover. It will also help your body to recover quicker, as exercise always does. If you cannot handle the idea of jogging around the block on such a morning, then do not despair. Even if you choose a low-key activity, just keep yourself active.

Smoke a Joint

smoke a joint

Many do not recommend consuming marijuana again until the effects wear off totally. Others disagree and believe the “hair of the dog” approach the only real solution. If you do decide to smoke another joint or nibble another edible, then choose a Sativa-dominant strain for energy and motivation.

If your weed hangover is severe and you do not have work obligations, then you can simply sleep it off. This is the best option for most people, but it is not always practical. Fortunately, a weed hangover does not usually last as long as an alcohol one will, so if you drink enough water to manage the headache, you should be feeling great again in no time at all. Just remember not to overdo it too much in the future.

Awesome Ice Bong

The story for this epic ice bong goes like this:

I harvested the ice from a frozen river. Using a chisel and a hammer I shaped two smaller blocks (one for the base and one for the neck of the bong)

I used a 3/8in drill bit to drill the downstem. I used a 1 1/2 inch forstner bit to drill the ice away where the neck will be. To join the two pieces of ice I melted the ends flat on a wood stove and then stuck them together and let them freeze.

The bowl is a normal bowl that I froze to the ice. You can’t remove it to clear the bong because it is frozen in place

As far as the ripability goes, it’s great. Smooth rips every time

THC Feminine Products Hit The Market

THC Feminine Products Hit The Market | Stoner Guide

Sorry, guys, but the ladies definitely need to hear this one. And ladies, I’m sure you’re familiar with the terrible effects of PMS, cramping, mood swings, and all of the other awful symptoms of menstruation. It sucks. We can take as much Ibuprofen and cranberry juice as we can handle but sometimes, nothing helps. Also, we all know what pills can do to your liver but when a small clawed monster is kickboxing your insides, you’ll take whatever you can get your hands on. Which is why Foria, a company on the medical marijuana market previously known for creating cannabis based lube, has something that you need to hear about.

Foria has now moved on from lube and has produced “relief suppositories” that are actually made out of cannabis. On their website, the company states that these suppositories “maximize the muscle relaxing and pain relieving properties of cannabis without including a psychotropic high”. Even though you won’t get a high feeling from using them, these tampons are sure to help remedy some of the negative effects of having your period. The tampons are a bit more pricey than the regular Kotex, running at $44 for a pack of four. There’s only three ingredients in them; cocoa butter, distilled THC oil, and CBD Isolate from organically grown hemp.

The goal of Foria is to focus on relieving pain. They want to share the helpful properties of cannabis in the best way possible. It’s great that they in fact created a tampon instead of a pill. Not only is it more natural, but the way that these are taken is also beneficial as the ingredients are absorbed quicker in that area than they are in the stomach. As of right now, these magical cannabis tampons are only available to residents in Colorado and California that hold a state medical card. Foria hopes to bring their medicated tampons to all residents in legal states soon.

Study To Begin On Veterans With PTSD

Study To Begin On Veterans With PTSD | Stoner Guide

Of all of the patients that need cannabis, veterans are some that need it the most. Suffering from PTSD and other after effects of the wars they’ve been in lead to some of the highest suicide rates in the country. With very limited VA medical options, our soldiers are forced to ingest Oxycontin, Xanax, Percocet, and other heavy drugs to combat their symptoms. This leads to high addiction rates among vets, showing that there needs to be another way to treat PTSD in the people who fought for our country. But finally, a bit of good news for vets hoping to have PTSD recognized as a qualification for medical marijuana.

Researchers in Maryland and Arizona are on the lookout for veteran volunteers that are willing to smoke up to two joints worth of pot a day in a new study that is aimed at finding out if cannabis actually relieves the symptoms of PTSD. “We’re not arguing that cannabis is a cure but our hypothesis is that is will at least reduce symptoms,” said the study organizer Dr. Sue Sisley. The $2.2 million study was paid for by a grant from the state of Colorado to the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies will be conducted at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland as well as Sisley’s Scottsdale Research Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. More than 100 veterans have already volunteered for the study.

The selected participants will be the first randomized, controlled trial in the United States to objectively test cannabis as a legitimate treatment for PTSD. After the subjects undergo a two week screening and assessment process, they will be assigned to smoke one out of four types of cannabis. One will have high levels of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis. Another will have high levels of CBD, which is the suggested antidepressant in cannabis, as well as reducing anxiety. The third will be an equal balance of both CBD and THC. This is the group that the Veterans Alliance for Medical Marijuana reports is generally the favored kind of cannabis among combat veterans who are using cannabis to relieve PTSD. And the final group will be a placebo and will get no significant levels of either THC or CBD.

For the first two days, the veterans will be observed for four hours after smoking to ensure that they have no negative reactions to the cannabis they’ve ingested. In addition, they will have to take a physical exam and an in-depth psychological assessment, once in the beginning of the study and again at the end. There will also be regular blood tests and other body monitoring throughout the study. But after all of that, the participants will be given their weed to smoke (up to 1.8 grams a day). They will be able to smoke as much as they want within that limit, although electronic vapes cannot be used. The participants will also be given an iPad to track their use, both writing about the experience and providing a video journal. They will also wear a watch designed to track their sleep patterns.

After the three weeks is up, there will be a two week washout period in which the vets will not smoke at all and then begins the next set of tests and assessments. At the end, they will be asked if they will continue to use medical marijuana or if they will find another method of treatment for their symptoms. If this trial is a success, officials at the California based Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) says they intend to seek use of smoking botanical cannabis as a federally approved prescription drug.

Four Of the Strongest Strains Right Now

Four Of the Strongest Strains Right Now | Stoner Guide

Some stoners really love the knockout punch that certain strains of cannabis give them. There’s just something so great about being stoned and really knowing it. But are you having trouble finding that perfectly strong strain? The one that you’ll really love? Well look no further. This list will give you five of the strongest strains in the US, with THC as high as 32.13%!

4.  Platinum OG from Herbal Solutions -Ypsilanti Michigan Cup – 27.1% THC
Already known for being a strong strain, this particular batch is getting close to 30% THC! It’s an indica dominant for those who aren’t familiar and it allegedly comes from three strains; Master Kush, OG Kush, and a third, unknown strain. Platinum OG will give you a brief, head high onset that will eventually become a powerful physical high that is perfect for sleeping, pain, and stress and anxiety.

3.  Chiquita Banana from Utopia Farms – World Cannabis Cup 2015 – 27.16% THC
A somewhat new strain to most, Chiquita Banana is a West Coast cross between Ghost OG and Skunk Haze. These two combined create an indica dominant hybrid that actually tastes and smells like, (you guessed it) bananas. It’s not as heavy as our previously mentioned Platinum but instead, the effects are balanced out by the mellow sativa buzz from the Haze. This strain is perfect for heavy stress and depression. It also stimulates creativity and can help those who suffer from social anxiety.

2.  Emperor Cookie Dough – Greenwolf LA Denver Cup – 31.1% THC
This incredibly strong strain is a cross between Emperor OG and Girl Scout Cookies, one of the most popular strains ever to surface in the cannabis social media scene. It is one of only two strains ever that has crossed the 30% THC threshold and comes from Greenwolf LA. Emperor Cookie Dough is great for those who need an appetite stimulant and those who suffer from anxiety and depression.

1.  Chem Dog – Next Harvest Denver Cup – 32.13% THC
Now the highest THC content bud ever tested at the High Times Cannabis Cup, this Chem Dog is the most potent bud… Ever. Chem Dog is the original source for strains such as OG Kush and Sour Diesel. It has a pungent aroma so if you want to get a hold of this strain, be sure that you can contain it. A smooth smoke accompanied by a very mind blowing high, this is a strain that is recommended to all those who smoke!

Seven Dabbing Terms You Should Know

Seven Dabbing Terms You Should Know | Stoner Guide

Even though cannabis concentrates have been around for a long time now, there are still some people that it’s new to. Not everyone has access to medical or recreational cannabis and concentrates can be hard (and expensive) to get if you don’t live in the right area. So since the act is fairly new to some people, there are still some terms that people aren’t familiar with that they should know if they’re going to be indulging in cannabis concentrates.

  • Low Temp – When you heat a nail to a lower than normal temperature, the taste of the concentrate is much more flavorful than dabs at high temps. Lower temp dabs are why carb caps are so useful.
  • Carb Cap – These can be made of ceramic, glass, titanium, or quartz. The device traps air and activates any non vaporized oil that is left on the nail.
  • Dewaxing – The process in which you separate plant fats and the waxes.
  • Winterizing – This is the process of using a secondary solvent to separate the fats and waxes. Alcohol is commonly used solvent for this.
  • Rig – a simple one but still something that some people are’t familiar with. This is just the piece in which cannabis concentrates are smoked out of. They look different from the traditional water pipes.
  • Dabber – This tool can sometimes be combined with a carb cap and is usually made out of the same materials; quartz, titanium, ceramic, or glass. A dabber has a sharp or flat end which is used to pick up cannabis concentrate and drop it on the heated nail/banger.
  • Solventless – When making concentrates, a solvent is usually used to extract the THC from the plant matter. However, it can be done without using a solvent. This includes ice hash and rosin, making these types on concentrate highly desired and extremely flavorful, which can be seen in their price tags.

Cannabis And Pregnancy

Cannabis And Pregnancy | Stoner Guide

While it is a commonly known fact that women who are pregnant should refrain from drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes while pregnant. These substances have been proven to have negative effects on babies but what about cannabis? The plant is all natural and can help with some of the problems that some women have during pregnancy. But is it safe? This question has been in debate since the 1960s and continues to puzzle researchers today, as old “studies” are debunked and new ones are done. While it is rumored that cannabis does cause some birth complications, more and more people are beginning to think otherwise.

Many studies have been done on the effects of cannabis on a developing fetus but the subject definitely still remains problematic. A good deal of the studies that have been done have relied on the pregnant mother to supply her own data. The mothers may have misreported use, whether they forgot or didn’t want to disclose for personal reasons. These self-reporting studies are extremely unreliable because of this but thankfully, there are a few concrete studies that seem to say that using cannabis while pregnant is fine.

In Jamaica, Dr. Melanie Dreher, who was the dean of nursing at Rush Medical Center in Chicago at the time of the study (now retired), looked at pregnant mothers before and after they had their babies. The mothers were part of a community in rural Jamaica, some who were using cannabis to treat their morning sickness and some that weren’t using cannabis at all. After the babies were born, she used the Neonatal Assessment Scale at three days and again at one month to measure the babies’ neurological performance as well as behavior. She expected to find complications such as low birth weight or issues with neurological development but she found none of that. In actuality, the babies who were born to mothers who used cannabis showed better social skills than the babies born to mothers who didn’t.

Although the results of this study look promising, Dr. Dreher was quick to say that the improvements noted in the study weren’t directly correlated to cannabis use by the mothers. It could have very well been the way the child was being raised at home that had this effect. She presented the example that many of the mothers she observed that smoked were also selling cannabis from home, meaning that they spent a great deal of time with their children, providing a more family orientated environment. The experiment was conducted again when the children reached age four but Dr. Dreher says that the performance was not directly related to cannabis exposure. “We would have done another study but the National Institute of Health really was not interested in funding a study that did not show something negative about cannabis,” she said.

Overall, it seems that most doctors don’t recommend using cannabis or anything else during pregnancy. The majority agree that it is best to stay as substance free as possible while pregnant. It definitely can be hard, especially with swollen ankles and morning sickness but until more studies are presented in regards to the effects THC might have on a fetus, it is a good idea to stay safe. It would be beneficial for more studies to be done on this subject, however, as cannabis has also shown to provide immense relief for expecting mothers.

5 Ways To Use Your Seeds and Stems

5 Ways To Use Your Seeds and Stems | Stoner Guide

Getting some buds with seeds and stems in it can be a nuisance but it does happen occasionally. Sometimes it can be frustrating; big stems add weight and so do seeds and you might think you can’t do anything with stems… Right? Okay while seeds and stems definitely aren’t as good as actual buds, they aren’t completely useless. Many people I’ve known over the years collect their seeds and stems, hiding them away for who knows what. Most people used to think you could only brew tea but now that we have a better understanding for our beautiful Mary Jane, seeds and stems can be used for all kinds of different amazing things. Here are five that we have put together for you. Enjoy!

  • Topicals
Cannabis topical products are very popular right now, as they have an amazing ability to provide relief for a multitude of ailments. If you’ve been saving your stems, making a cannabis topical might be the way to go. Find a 420 friendly topical recipe (there’s one in the Stonerdays Cookbook section!) and go to town.
  • Bubble hash
If you’re not familiar with bubble hash, it is a solventless hash that’s made by washing resin off of cannabis plants. Stems don’t have a lot of resin on them but when there are enough of them, they can produce bubble hash. Have a huge stockpile of stems? This may be the choice for you.
  • Stem Pen
It may sound silly but yes, you can make a pen using cannabis stems. You will need to use stalks from leftover harvests because the pens need to be pen-sized, a drill press, sand paper, and a basic pen kit which you can either buy online or at a craft store.
  • Hemp Wick
Love smoking but hate butane fumes? Feeling motivated and want to make your own hemp wick? Well you can use your stems for that. Using longer stems or stalks, strip them until you have a good amount of long, stringy fibers. Twist the fibers together tightly to form a thin rope. Fold the rope in half and twist it together again. Dip the whole thing in beeswax and wipe off the excess.
  • Paper
Yes you can actually make your own hemp paper with stems that you’ve saved. To make this, you just need to soak ground cannabis stems and paper scraps in water overnight. After you soak it, add the paper/stem solution to a blender and blend thoroughly. Add water as needed. Pour the pulp evenly on to a screen (or “deckle”). You can make your own at home by stretching nylon stockings over a wooden frame. The drying process usually takes around 24 hours but keep an eye on your paper and remove it from the deckle before it is completely dry.

If you have other ideas or know of other uses for seeds and stems please let us know in the comments below. Thanks.

The Age Of Cannabis And Fitness

The Age Of Cannabis And Fitness | Stoner Guide

There are a lot of stoners who will swear that smoking cannabis helps them workout. No, cannabis doesn’t have the same effects as steroids or anything like that. The plant acts as a painkiller so when an athlete gets hurt, ingesting cannabis can assist in fixing the muscle tissues or bones that have been damaged by the injury. Cannabis can also act as an anti inflammatory and helps to keep soreness and bruises at bay. For some, working out and using cannabis can help the user become more focused on their workout. The repetitive nature of a gym session can bore some people and cannabis can help them to keep their head in the game.

Up until now, due to the illegal classification of cannabis, stoners who work out haven’t had the ability to utilize a gym that allows the consumption of cannabis while working out. But Jim McAlpine’s idea is about to change that. He is introducing the first gym for cannabis enthusiasts. The gym will allow people to toke up freely while they’re working out, providing a comfortable, safe, 420 friendly environment where you can also get a sweat going. Not only that but McAlpine’s partner is the former NFL player Ricky Williams, winner of the Heisman Trophy, and a large advocate for cannabis use (seeing as how he retired from the NFL after failing numerous drug tests due to cannabis).

Power Plant Fitness, the name of this innovative BYOC (bring your own cannabis, since they won’t be selling it on site) new spot, is coming soon to the Bay Area, and the goal is to sell Americans on cannabis as part of a healthy lifestyle. McAlpine and Williams are targeting the “lazy stoner” stereotype and trying to put it to rest once and for all. The ultimate goal is to get this cannabis orientated workout trend up there with CrossFit as a new fitness craze.

With Power Plant Fitness on the way (and surely others to follow), the partnership of cannabis and working out will prove that stoners aren’t just lazy losers who sit on the couch all day. Especially for people like Williams, who have suffered at the hands of the NFL doctors and their unending prescription pads of painkillers, a cannabis gym would be a beautiful idea. Many former (and current) football players are coming forward and saying that they would take cannabis over painkillers for the injuries they sustain during their sport but the NFL sees cannabis just as the government; Schedule 1.

Cannabis Withdrawal

Cannabis Withdrawal | Stoner Guide

If you’ve been smoking for years, you probably don’t get as stoned as you used to and that might lead you to try out a cannabis detox, or a tolerance break as most stoners call it. This is a period where one just doesn’t smoke, or smokes considerably less. If a stoner overloads their endocannabinoid system, the brain’s response to cannabis can be lessened. A tolerance break can be great, especially for heavy smokers are looking to get super duper stoned once more. But what happens when you stop smoking weed?

Cannabis withdrawal is a real thing but it isn’t as severe as some mass media outlets make it out to be. With the Telegraph and the Daily Mail in the UK posting headlines such as “Cannabis as Addictive As Heroin”, you would think that the symptoms of cannabis withdrawal would be unbearable. While the effects of less weed are unpleasant, most people can get over them without a hitch. Much less harsh than heroin or opiate withdrawal, cutting down your cannabis use isn’t that bad as long as you know how to handle it.

When taking a break from weed, there are a few symptoms that one might experience. Starting in the first week, trouble sleeping, loss of appetite (or potentially an increase of appetite), physical symptoms (headaches, sweating, fever, chills, stomach pain, etc), or restless will make themselves apparent. Physical symptoms aren’t as apparent as the later, mental symptoms. This happens later, about a week after the break has started. Mood changes will occur, along with strange and intense dreams. Nervousness will also appear, sometimes immediately after stopping or somethings up to nine days after. Overall, symptoms of cannabis withdrawal don’t seem to last longer than 20 days and peak at about 10.

If you are attempting to take a tolerance break, it may be a good idea to slowly lessen your cannabis use if you experience some of the harsher symptoms. There is a 50% chance that you will be able to quit smoking without having any symptoms. But for the other 50% that do suffer from symptoms, there are ways to help yourself get through it. It is best to keep yourself busy. Go to work, get outside, ride your bike, go for a walk. Sitting around will only magnify the symptoms and getting out and moving around will not only keep you occupied, it will help you become more tired in order to overcome the insomnia. Eat healthy foods and avoid junk that will give you sugar highs and make you crash. And don’t forget, that first hit at the end of your tolerance break will be awesome!

Five Music Genres Great For Stoners

Five Music Genres Great For Stoners | Stoner Guide

Since music and stoners go so well together, it’s no surprise that there are a lot of famous musicians who smoke on the regular. When you think about it, there’s a lot of genres of music that wouldn’t even be worth listening to without the influence of weed. The plant has helped shape some of the most successful artists of this time period (Snoop Dogg!!) and has most definitely played a part in the building blocks of entire genres.

Snoop was mentioned already so we will start at hip hop. A great deal of this genre at least mentions cannabis and hip hop artists are certainly known to smoke some serious bud. Hip hop also makes for a great stoner music choice if you’re just chilling and smoking. Whether the beats are fast or slow, hip hop is something your smoking friends will appreciate on your playlist.

It may surprise you that this genre is on the list but punk is another genre that is influenced by Mary Jane. Punks aren’t known for being chill so it’s a little shocking that they would write songs about pot. But NOFX had it’s song Herojuana and punk bands even had an impact on artists like Bob Marley, who wrong Punky Reggae Party after being inspired by the Clash. This just goes to show you the wide reach of cannabis.

Pop music is still peppered with cannabis use to this day. Although, some of the pop genres most notable stoners were the Beatles, who not only were totally open about their use of cannabis and other illicit substances but wrote songs about their drug use, such as “I get high with a little help from my friends” and the infamous “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds”. Of course, popstars today still smoke. Miley Cyrus is extremely open about her cannabis use and Justin Beiber has been caught with weed on numerous occasions.

Opera being on this list is even more shocking than punk making the cut but here it is. While the old time opera singers had to preserve those pipes, the conductors could do what they wanted, such as Michael Tilson Thomas, a famous conductor that was known to smoke cannabis. He was arrested when he was found to be in possession of three joints and some other illegal substances. Rene Leibowitz was a famous French composer and created the piece titled Marijuana – Variations non serieuses. Today, modern day opera singers can indulge in edibles that will get them super stoned without damaging their vocal cords. Thank the opera gods for that.

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioned electronica. This strange form of music started blowing up in the 80s and has a history that is heavy with mind altering drugs. Electronica is known for it’s crazy rave parties so it’s no surprise that cannabis influences it. Cannabis even creates ties between music, such as when Skrillex and ASAP Rocky collaborated on Wild For the Night, a song that mainly focuses on (what else?) doing drugs and smoking weed. ASAP also claims to have smoked with Daft Punk but that’s neither confirmed nor denied.

PotBot | Stoner Guide

The legal cannabis business is beginning to gain momentum and being under prohibition for so long was sure to lead to some well thought out ideas. Stoners have had a long time to think about ways to help fellow stoners and improve the smoking experience. Even those who don’t smoke are looking to break in to cannabis, an industry that is sure to make a fortune in the next few years.

Take for example, the cannabis recommendation company called Potbotics, founded in 2013. The company has formulated an app titled PotBot for desktops, iOS, and coming soon to the Android market. PotBot will act as a virtual budtender and assist users much like WebMD. It will allow those looking for medical cannabis to enter their symptoms and get a heavily researched answer, with recommended strains and the levels of potency that patient should ingest. The app also lets them know where the closest dispensary is.

Cannabis has positive effects for a multitude of different illnesses and afflictions. The plant has thousands of different strains, with potency levels all over the place, some high in THC and some in CBD. While some strains will help with anxiety and depression, others will help with eating disorders and chemotherapy patients. Knowing which strain an individual should take for a specific diagnosis is extremely important to treatment.

The biggest competitor for PotBot would be the expansive Leafly site. On Leafly, users can review strains and dispensaries, along with news articles, canna-business consulting services, and a cannabis accessory store. There are thousands of strains and reviews on Leafly, making it a tough rival. But PotBot information won’t be user written. Instead, it will be heavily researched and carefully edited before being posted to the app. This will make it far more useful when looking for specific, scientific cannabis research in regards to treatment.

PotBot is not the only thing that Potbotics is working on either. The company is also working on two other products that will be revolutionary in the cannabis industry; a wireless EEG helmet called the BrainBot that will allow doctors to analyze neural responses to cannabinoids as well as the NanoPot, a DNA reader that scans cannabis seeds to optimize grow yields. There will be many more innovative ideas such as these and will hopefully show how beneficial cannabis is to humans.

Cannabis Breaks In To Bars

Cannabis Breaks In To Bars | Stoner Guide

People often compare cannabis and alcohol, putting them head to head. But some people are beginning to mix the two together… Yes that’s right, cannabis infused alcoholic beverages. That you can order at a bar. Take for example West Hollywood’s Gracias Madre, a vegan Mexican place where Jason Eisner is creating CBD infused cocktails that are becoming quite popular.

Since CBD is the compound in cannabis that helps to reduce pain and can give you energy, these drinks make a great starter. Eisner has three different cannabis drinks, the Rolled Fashioned, the Sour T-iesle, and the Stoney Negroni. He started making the drinks in order to treat injuries that he sustained playing sports. While the price of the drinks are surely high, they will have you feeling great on a night out. CBD oil, which is what is used in the drinks, has a slight earthy taste to it as well, which will give the drinks an interesting taste.

For those that aren’t near West Hollywood or in a legal state, you can make a drink that may just simply remind you of cannabis. The Liquid Marijuana is a delicious beverage that you can make as a shot or a drink. It’s fruity and smooth, so be careful not to drink too many. Try one out the next time you go to the bar or grab a few nips and make your own at home. The liquid marijuana makes a really good unwind drink, something that will be good to kick back and relax with at the end of the day.

Take a pint glass and fill it with ice.

  • Pour in 1/2 oz Captain Morgan spiced rum.
  • 1/2 Malibu coconut rum, 1/2 oz Midori.
  • 1/2 oz blue curacao.

Pour in some pineapple juice, leaving a space at the top of the glass for a splash of sweet and sour mix. Shake everything together vigorously and there you have it, a liquid marijuana drink.

It was only a matter of time before people began to mix cannabis and alcohol to form new kinds of cocktails. Pot bars will definitely be a thing of the future, with bartenders specializing in cannabis infused cocktails for all different kinds of people. Some will be stronger in THC, some in CBD. It is only a matter of time before we see these interesting new establishments appear.

Please remember to smoke and drink responsibly.

Stoned Driving

Stoned Driving | Stoner Guide

One of the most heard arguments against legal cannabis is the fact that drivers that are stoned are at high risk for accidents, potentially injuring themselves and others. But even though this is a strong debate point for anti-cannabis supporters, about 70% of people don’t think that driving while stoned is dangerous according to a recent Gallup poll. Only 29% said that cannabis was a serious problem when used while driving. So are high drivers dangerous?

In 2013, nearly a third of all of the fatal accidents were caused by alcohol impairment, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Seeing as how alcohol is already legal, one would think that this substance would be more of a focal point than cannabis. The plant, while it does impair driving ability, doesn’t have the same effects as alcohol on a driver. People who have been drinking are physically impaired and don’t really think that they are. Drunk drivers will driver faster, more aggressively, tailgate, and make rash decisions behind the wheel. People who are stoned, on the other hand, overestimate their impairment and will tend to driver slower, leave larger distances between themselves and other cars, or overcompensate to be sure that they’re following traffic laws.

A study conducted in 2013 in the Journal of Law and Economics, it was found that after medical marijuana laws were passed, traffic fatalities fell. It was evening accidents and drunk/alcohol related incidents that saw the most drastic decrease. The researchers who conducted the study hypothesized that cannabis may actually be decreasing accidents because people are smoking as compared to drinking. But it’s difficult to see a true correlation as traffic fatalities have been falling across the country for years, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Cars are now safer with new technology, less people risking drinking and driving, or other unknown factors might play a part in the decline.

So is stoned driving a serious risk? Not really. It isn’t recommended that you drive while high, especially if you’re not familiar with it. Alcohol has been proven to be far more dangerous of a substance to drive on, causing many accidents over the years. But cannabis doesn’t seem to have that much of a negative effect on drivers. More study is definitely needed but as of right now, it would seem that the argument against cannabis because of driving isn’t a very strong one.

Cheesy Weed

Cheesy Weed | Stoner Guide

Most people know that cannabis is a flower. And if you didn’t before this, you do now. And if you’ve ever smelled a flower, you know that they emit strong aromas (some great, like lilacs, and some strange like that flower that smells like rotten meat when it blooms). Certain flowers smell better or worse to different people and the odors/flavors (when you smoke it) stimulate the human mind to feel different sensations. And since cannabis is a flower, it has the ability as well, to make us feel a certain way when we smell/smoke it. Why? Because terpenes.

Terpenes are what makes flowers smell. There are more than 200 of them found in cannabis, many of which resemble smells that aren’t normally found in nature, such as cheese. Yes, cheese, like the dairy product. You are probably familiar with weed that smells somewhat like the deli at a supermarket. Cheesy strains are some of the strongest and they really sting the nostrils. The strains are uplifting and stimulating, which is quite interesting after getting a whiff. While it may not be an odor that you want to bottle up, the cheese strains make up for it by being very strong.

The cause of the cheese smell comes from a number of terpenes in cannabis. They include ethylmethyl acetic acid, isovaleric acid, octanoic acid, (methyl thio) butyrate, and methyl mercaptan. With these terpenes present, cannabis strains can smell slightly dairy-esque, giving off a sweet, almost vanilla scent or go the opposite way and smell like old cheese on a hot day.

So while the cheese strains may not be the greatest smelling jar on the shelf, you shouldn’t write them off just because they might not smell great. While mostly sativa dominant, the cheese strains offer indica effects as well, making them a decent choice of hybrid. They have shown to be quite effective as an antidepressant and an anticonvulsant. So be sure to give these strains a chance.

Benefits Of Eating Cannabis

Benefits Of Eating Cannabis | Stoner Guide

Even though cannabis isn’t federally recognized as a medicine, more and more people are beginning to believe in it’s positive effects. But since smoking has such a negative stigma attached to it, there are some people who would rather eat their cannabis as compared to smoking it. Cannabis has been mentioned throughout history as a medicine all over the world. It helps with nausea and vomiting, along with patients suffering with AIDs and has been used to treat severe neurological disorders, chronic pain, and muscle spacticity. There is also research that show cannabis can destroy certain cancer cells and slow the rate of others, including an aggressive form of brain cancer.

So why eat your cannabis rather than smoke it? When you eat cannabis in a cookie or brownie or whatever (you can basically cook cannabis in to anything these days), the edible is introduced in to the body via the gastrointestinal tract. Your body then converts the inactive form of THC to delta-11 THC, a compound that has far different effects than the delta-9 THC that is produced when cannabis is smoked. When cannabis is eaten, delta-11 THC gives the user the effects of both compounds, which can lead some people to freak out. The high you get from edibles is much different than the high from smoking but it can have serious benefits to patients who need it.

Eat your Weedies!

First off, eating cannabis is easier on the lungs. It eliminates coughing and sore throats and doesn’t produce the smell. It is subtle and perfect for patients who need to medicate discretely. Smoking cannabis leads to an almost immediate high and lasts for about 1-3 hours and then suddenly, you aren’t high anymore. Edibles take about 30-90 minutes to kick in but they last for up to 7 hours, with a gradual descent that leaves the user feeling rested rather than burnt. Considering the longer lasting effects of edibles, ingesting pot would be much better for patients who need long term relief. Eating your weed also distributes the high feeling to your entire body, making edibles an effective painkiller.

Eating-Marijuana-Cooking-Food-with-Weed-Fork-and-Edible-Pot-Bud-Shutterstock-800x430 (1)

It is not uncommon to find someone who supports edible-only medicating. The effects of edibles are very potent and helpful to those who need it. However, the fact that they are so strong and have such a slow onset may be their downfall. In some places, edibles are banned due to their being blamed for accidental deaths and emergency room spikes. It is obvious that some people do need to be educated on how to ingest their cannabis but that shouldn’t mean that all patients suffer.

Legal State Teen Use And Cannabis

Legal State Teen Use And Cannabis | Stoner Guide

One of the heaviest arguments against cannabis legalization is that teenagers will be able to get their hands on the plant more easily than they have been able to in the past. Even though people may put a lot of faith in to this argument, you can’t argue with numbers. A Washington study done recently from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that minors, in fact, don’t feel that cannabis is any easier to obtain now than it was back in 2012 in Washington state. The survey polled tens of thousands of teens across a hundred schools each year and in 2010, 55% of teens said that it was “easy” to obtain marijuana. But in 2014 (two years after Washington legalized recreational marijuana), 54% of teens think it’s easy to get a hold of marijuana. While a 1% difference doesn’t seem like much, it’s still a decrease and not an increase, showing that cannabis is not more obtainable for young kids.

The list of the other things that have occurred in the legal states that go against the “cannabis is now easier to get a hold of for kids” theory is long. From 2012 (the year Colorado legalized cannabis) until now, the monthly teen cannabis use has fallen from 22% in 2011 to 20% in 2013. Additionally, the percentage of teens who had used cannabis at all had fallen from 45% to 39%, a considerable drop. In 2014, the Monitoring the Youth survey and the 2013 National Survey on Drug Use found that nationwide underage cannabis use had decreased slightly. The decrease occurred as the first wave of recreational laws went in to place. This decrease is chalked up to the nationwide conversations that were happening about cannabis, which promoted knowledge instead of scare tactics.

A national analysis of teen cannabis approval ratings also showed that between 2002 and 2013, teens approval of the cannabis plant didn’t increase and an NIH-funded study looked at data from 1991 to 2014 and concluded that the “passage of state medical marijuana laws does not increase adolescent use of marijuana”. Tack on the fact that a few months ago, a study released put to rest the myth that underage consumption had increased, and you have to admit that the youth of today seem much more educated when it comes to cannabis than past generations.

Colorado recently released the findings of a long running report that gives us the most detailed data on the mile high state’s recreational marijuana laws. The surveys were given out to about 40,000 Colorado students before and after cannabis legalization. The information collected showed that the students had “no significant change” in marijuana use by children under the age of 18. The number of high school students using cannabis also dropped from 23% in 2005 to 20% in 2014. But while these numbers seem promising, it was said that Colorado youth are much more likely to use cannabis than children in other states that haven’t legalized. About 13% of Colorado minors 12-17 has used cannabis in the 30 days prior to the survey, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health said. That’s 13% compared to 7% of minors the same age nationwide. So while nothing really changed, the numbers of teens able to get a hold of marijuana is higher than the national average.

The main key to keeping kids away from cannabis without the supervision of a doctor is educating them. Scare tactics won’t work, as children are always interested in what’s forbidden. Kids are very smart and it would benefit everyone if we just gave them the facts. Teaching the youth about marijuana when they’re young is the key to them using it responsibly when they’re older. By keeping them in the dark about it, they will only have to discover the plant for themselves and who knows what age that will be at. It is up to the parents to teach the kids about the wonderful plant and to make sure that kids aren’t getting a hold of it without the correct supervision.

How To Roll A Diamond Joint

How To Roll A Diamond Joint | Stonerdays

The diamond joint, one of my personal favorites, is one of the simplest, yet most elegant techniques to roll a trick joint. Although it looks like a complicated roll, with ample practice, this joint can easily be mastered.

Materials Needed:

  • Rolling Papers
  • Scissors
  • Lighter
  • Sticky strip from the rolling paper
  • Marijuana

Step 1:

Begin by rolling a fully-packed standard joint (preferably king size) with a crutch.

Step 2:

Roll two identical crutchless joints. Leave both ends untied with a few centimeters (one finger nail length) of open paper.

Step 3:

Take both crutchless joints and set them parallel to each other. Pick a side and place one sticky strip two finger nail lengths down on the joints and wrap the remaining sticky around the joints. Twist together the ends closest to the sticky strip. This will be the top of the Diamond Joint.

Step 4:

Place a thumb on the sticky strip. Gently form a gap between the joints and carefully bend the middle of each joint, away from one another, to resemble the shape of a diamond.

Step 5:

Flip the combined joints over to continue to the next step. This time, stick a second sticky strip one-finger nail length down the end of the two joints (leaving room to add the fully-packed standard joint).

Step 6:

Take a third sticky strip and place it directly above the previous sticky strip, leaving half a fingernail length left of the open paper. This purpose of this step is to seal off any potential gaps, without distorting the open paper’s shape. Again, carefully bend the middle of the two joints to adjust the diamond form.

Step 7:

On the same side, use a pair of scissors to cut out the section of open paper that merges at the base of the diamond, creating a larger hole where the fully-packed standard joint will be inserted. After clearing out the base of the diamond, insert the fully-packed standard joint while using a sticky strip to secure the junction of the joints.

Step 8:

Place another sticky strip one finger nail length below where the joints merge. Once in place, alternate looping the rest of the sticky strip through the center of the diamond then around the base. Repeat for the other side of the diamond (If the diamond joint is still not sturdy, or contains air holes, then simply repeat step 8 until fully secure).

Step 9:

Finally, skim the flame of a lighter across the wet sticky strips to reinforce bond of the rolling papers; reshape the diamond form, and that’s how you roll a diamond joint.

Cinco De Mayo

Cinco De Mayo; Stoner Guide

The first thing that most people think of when Cinco De Mayo is brought up is drinking… Lots and lots of drinking. Lots of Mexican beers and tequila shots go down on this day but for a lot these people, they really have no idea about what the holiday really represents… And it’s not really celebrated in Mexico, as the holiday stands for the remembrance of the Battle of Puebla. The holiday also represents the celebration of Mexican heritage in the States. Of course, a lot of people know that this holiday is a huge drinking holiday, like I said above. But hey, it is a celebration, right? Instead of using Cinco De Mayo as a day to drink and be silly, the Students For Sensible Drug Policy used the holiday as a way to push forward their thoughts on the war that’s been constantly taking lives for years; the drug war.

AP APTOPIX Mexico Anniversary

Unfortunately for Mexico, when President Felipe Calderon took the office, the war on drugs has been increasing in the country. Calderon increased military efforts to enforce the drugs war, bringing what shouldn’t even be an issue to the brink of a massive human rights crisis. SSDP has used the holiday Cinco De Mayo to demonstrate on multiple college campus’. By presenting 72 Mexican flags, the students represented the 100 to 7,200 that were killed in the span of a year due to the effects of this pointless war. Over the span of a few years, SSDP’s flags increased, eventually reaching a staggering 180 flags to show that nearly 18,000 people (some reports have even higher numbers) have been killed in the drug war. But former Drug Czar John Walters, a man who once compared medical marijuana to medical crack, said that these murders were in fact a success, showing how skewed the view on this war really is. In addition, Michelle Leonhart, who is the acting director of the DEA agrees with that statement, showing a complete disregard for human life.

Cinco De Mayo is a day in which to stand up for what you believe in. Do you believe in cannabis? If so, make it known on this day! Wear your favorite weed shirt or pants and stand up for the plant that you believe can help people. Drinking can absolutely be a celebratory experience but at the same time, not all stoners enjoy liquid courage. And as said above, the holiday is in remembrance of people who showed courage and stood up for the things that they believed in. We should do the same to honor the holiday. So be sure that you recall the origin before, during, or after your celebration on this day, whether you’re drinking or smoking! Be sure to have fun and of course, be safe!

Stoner Jobs: An Inside Profile At Firefly

Stoner Jobs: An Inside Profile At Firefly

Having at least one or two stoner internships before getting a real job seems normal. Leading into the summer of ‘15, I definitely felt like I had to get out there and have my own internship. It sounds a little bit ridiculous right, but that’s truly what I was thinking during my first year of college.

I searched around and spoke to some connections through my mom, and eventually found an internship. But, this was not the job that I ever dreamed I would have had. The company was Firefly, an SF-based vaporizer start-up

I went to high school in the bay area, so I had quite a bit of exposure to stoners and I thought I knew a lot about the industry. But after working for Firefly I realized just how wrong I was.

stoner stuff

Now I want to share with you what I saw and learned about the industry from the inside. This article is about being a teenager and seeing the industry from the inside of one of the most technologically advanced companies in the business. I went from having a normal street education to actually knowing the truth of the legal dope industry.

What do I mean by the truth? Well for example, golden clear wax isn’t actually the best. The best wax is red gold and totally see through. But that’s for another time. Let me take you back to before summer.

When I met the founder of a vaporizer company at a business seminar I was pretty excited. Mark and I really kicked it off, and I ended up having an interview with Firefly to be their intern. And to my surprise, I got the job.

Now, at this point, I had never been to keen on vaporizers. Sure, there were like 5 kids that owned Pax’s on my floor in the dorms, but hitting a Pax is no fun. It’s basically an overpriced, ,simple, and flashy vaporizer . In my opinion, it’s best suited for girls who like weed but not smoking it, or for people that want something that looks ‘cute’.

But still, I didn’t have to like the product, I just had to work with it. I honestly had no clue what to expect. Was I going into an office that was seshing all day? Was I going to be working with fat stoners? I certainly hoped so! Well, it ended up being the opposite. I wouldn’t even see weed in the office until two months into my internship! I was working with real professionals. Take this for instance, one of our co-founders, Mark Williams was one of the lead product designers for Mac OS software until he joined the vaporizer industry. Yea, so this was legit shit.

The thing that I loved from the very start was how seriously they took me. I was basically given a list of projects that I had to finish. The assignments ranged all over the place and were really interesting. I had/have to catalogue every dispensary in California, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado, I had to go through a modeling catalogue and write about all the up and coming talent:), I also had to find a ton of popular weed instagrams to work with on advertising. And that’s just a small snippet of my work, not even including going to dispensaries all over the bay area.

Have you ever seen the backroom of a stoners dispensary? Literally pounds of fire weed everywhere.

My third day on the job a coworker and I headed down to SPARC, a dispensary that we really like and work closely with. It’s an incredible place, really clean, high end, and friendly. They have a lounge with Volcano Vaporizers and Fireflys to use, and once a month they even have live jazz to vape to!

Places like Sparc were another cool perk about Firefly. Firefly doesn’t waste time on mediocre (I don’t want no mediocre, from the head to the toe they so far from mediocre). We literally only work with the most high end places you can think of. Sparc and Apothecarium in SF, Native Roots in Colorado, and Nectar in Portland, just to give you an idea.

That day we were at Sparc to teach the budtenders how to properly use the Firefly (it was fun smoking people out all day), because if you don’t have proper instruction, it can be a challenge. For instance, a lot of people will finely grind their weed but the Firefly works better with a coarse grind.

It’s built with a dynamic convection system. Currently, every other portable vape uses conduction to vape which has a pretty high risk for combustion and loss of active ingredients in the plant. Not exactly the smartest way to vape.

You put weed in the oven and it heats the metal up which burns the weed. Firefly’s convection system heats up the air that passes over the herb, giving you real vapor. That’s why you want to have a coarse grind, so that the air can flow through the bowl smoothly.

stoner cannabis

This dynamic convection system has a lot more implications than you think. The reason it was made like this is to give the user the “full plant experience”.

This is one of those things that average stoners just don’t get, but will become well known in a few years.

From Strawberry Cough to Trainwreck, every cannabis strain has a unique blend of over 85 cannabinoids and 100 terpenoid flavors. Each of these compounds activate at a different temperature. Each strain has it’s own unique combination which results in unique flavors and effects.

Due to the fact that all these ingredients release at different boiling points that range from 200°F to a little bit above 400° F the problem becomes capturing all of them. This little dilemma is what the Firefly was built around. The Firefly only heats up when you are inhaling. Meaning that every single hit you get is going from room temperature to 400° catching every single ingredient on the way. The outcome is incredible flavor and the most pure high.

I literally did a full 180 this summer going from bong rips to vape hits because the Firefly is just the best. Remember, I was never even a vape fan to begin with, I thought it was weak shit. But the Firefly is different.

You just read my first article that didn’t even cover more than my first week in my internship. I am going to be releasing new articles throughout the year all about life with Firefly and being a young person involved. You will read some crazy stuff, like when I met a lady that was on her deathbed for ten years and then healed herself with dabs. True. You will learn the shit that companies aren’t telling you. You’ll learn about the chillest companies that are coming out. Like a dab rig that requires no setup or butane, it’s fully electrical, you just turn it on, it heats up, and you dab.

Those and many more coming soon…

The Terrible Truth About Cannabis

The Terrible Truth About Cannabis; Stoner Guide

Stoners are very used to people using previously debunked information in order to scare people away from cannabis use. After years of brainwashing by the government and media, we wouldn’t expect any less from those who don’t research before they write, much like the Daily Mail article released on October 7 of this year. The article, while it gave good effort to talk badly about the plant, failed to realize the numerous studies that have been released proving that cannabis isn’t as dangerous as people have previously thought… In fact, the plant has far more positive qualities than negative qualities.

While the Daily Mail claims that this study is highly qualified to be taken as fact, it’s definitely not. First of all, this study was in fact a review of 20 years of existing research on the effects of cannabis use. The paper doesn’t really say anything that people aren’t already aware of and mostly focuses on old school theories like “cannabis makes you stupid”, can cause people who smoke “long term can get cancer”, as well as boldly claiming that this information “finally demolishes claims that smoking marijuana is harmless”. Finally, the paper comes right out and says that “cannabis is as addictive as heroin”.

If you’re a cannabis enthusiast and you have read the study yourself (which I definitely suggest that you do, as you’ll see some very different conclusions as compared to what the mass media is blabbering about. “This paper deals with the adverse effects of cannabis smoking, especially the adverse health effects of regular, typically daily, cannabis smoking”, Wayne Hall writes, the drug advisor for the World Health Organization and author of the paper. Here are some of the points in the article that the media seems to have overlooked in their eagerness to scare the shit out of people, as usual.

  • Overdosing on marijuana isn’t possible

On average, a stoner will roll a joint containing half a gram of cannabis and to some, that’s a severe understatement. Most heavy smokers can ingest up to half an ounce (14 grams) or more a day, depending on how long they’ve been smoking for. These people can function just fine, going about their daily lives while being baked as hell. Hall writes in the paper, “The fatal dose of THC in humans derived from animal studies is between 15 and 70 grams. This is a far greater amount of cannabis that even a heavy smoker could use in a day.” In 2013, the average potency of cannabis seized was 12.58 percent, which would translate in to 0.06 grams of THC in the average joint. If someone were to smoke somewhere between 238 to 1,113 joint a day (about 10 joints an hour for 24 hours straight), you may be in danger of overdosing… But you would suffer effects from carbon monoxide deficiency and oxygen deprivation far before ODing on cannabis itself.

  • Driving stoned… Dangerous or not?

There is huge controversy over cannabis users driving stoned. But according to research put forth by the researchers at Hartford Hospital and the University of Iowa conducted a study on the effects of cannabis while driving and found that driving stoned has little to no effect on driving skills. The article written by Hall even proves that fact by proving that driving while under the influence of cannabis is less harmful than driving while drunk, with marijuana having an increased crash rate of 2-3 times while alcohol users increase their crash rate 6-15 times. While I don’t recommend going out for a joyride while blasted, I would say that if you smoke a bit before heading out probably won’t kill you… But those shots you’re eying at the bar might.

  • Don’t smoke weed while pregnant.

There are studies that exist that state that smoking cannabis while pregnant can reduce birth weight but Hall’s paper says that the effect of cannabis use while pregnant is less than the effects of smoking cigarettes while pregnant. Some evidence exists that cannabis can have later in life effects on the child including a lower IQ and behavioral problems. But “uncertainty remains because of the small number ors tidies, the small samples of women in each, and the researchers’ limited ability to control for the confounding effects of other drugs during pregnancy, maternal drug use post-birth, and poor parenting.” While it’s not recommended that you smoke anything or drink alcohol during pregnancy, the chances of severe side effects seem to be slim.

  • Marijuana is addictive but the chance of you getting addicted is slim.

People who smoke weed are significantly less likely to develop a dependency to the plant. “The lifetime risk of developing a dependance among those who have never used cannabis was estimated at 9% in the United States in the early 90s against 32% for nicotine, 23% for heroin, 17% for cocaine, and 15% for alcohol, followed closely by 11% for stimulants.” What that means? More than nine in then people who try smoking weed won’t get addicted to it. So while it is possible, the chances are slim to none.

  • There may be links between teen marijuana use and the use of harder drugs. but this research is hotly contested.

Also named the “gateway theory”, this tidbit of “information” has been tossed out the window by multiple scientists in efforts to derail such nonsense. Most researchers these days suspect that alcohol and tobacco are more risky for teens to try because they have a higher rate of the users heading towards the harder stuff. Marijuana is not usually what researchers these days point to.

There are many other points in the study that were taken much out of context, giving the media free reign to spit as much bullshit on the subject as they want. As usual, media blows things far out of proportion and only reports the things that they want to. If you’re interested in reading the study, you can find it here:

Hemp Helps

Hemp Helps; Stoner Guide

People like to talk about stoners like they don’t know what’s going on in the world. Unfortunately for us, the stupid goofy stoner stereotype has managed to follow us through the years. But unlike the image that most people tend to see when they think “pothead”, stoners are incredibly health conscious, intelligent, and aware for the most part. More aware, I would say, then the majority of the general population. Marijuana can be an awakening substance, leaving potheads more open to new ideas and the workings of the world. A world that is plagued by hate and ignorance, prejudice and sadness. Humans are a destructive species and while we only have one planet, it doesn’t seem like a lot of people are taking the Earth’s health seriously. This presents a problem for the future generations, who will end up with no forests, no wildlife, and most importantly, no oxygen.

But a company called Hemp Helps is doing what they can with the help of social media to spread the awareness of our in-pain planet. Their plan? Help to replenish the supply of trees that we have so carelessly cut down. By producing clothes bracelets, and bags from the always sustainable hemp plant, Hemp Helps uses parts of their profits to replant trees that have suffered from deforestation. And since their products are made from hemp, those trees are safe (for now) from loggers. Hemp Helps works with the organization Trees For The Future and together, the two have managed to plant 3,743 trees. A huge feat for a company with only a few thousand followers on Instagram. So how does Hemp Helps manage to gain attention and utilize social media to help them plant?

We all know that social media is important. With no internet presence, a business can quickly fizzle and die out. The support from an internet fan base can propel a business from a few people in a garage in to multi-million dollar corporations. Hemp Helps isn’t after the money though. Their tactics are super simple. By posting a photo on their Instagram, they get massive influxes of traffic to their page. The photos are simple; they show a tranquil forest, full of trees and life. Words over the photo state “For every 100 likes this photo gets, we will plant a tree.” And with larger pages reposting these photos, Hemp Helps has managed to advance in the social media world.

While some people question the likes idea, saying things like “Oh that’s just for popularity” or “Why don’t you just plant the trees instead of begging for likes”, it’s clear as to why Hemp Helps chose this way to get their message across. By telling Instagram what their plan is, they can attract people to “like” the photo but they also spread awareness. When larger pages repost, more attention is grabbed creating a chain reaction. By utilizing “likes” on Instagram, Hemp Helps can grab the attention of the cannabis community and promote their tree planting goals to a larger audience. By getting big pages to repost the images, they get more people to their page, increasing the awareness, the likes, and the amount of trees that they plant. Smart? I think so. Check out @hemphelps on Instagram and read through their knowledge filled feed to learn about the terrifying amount of deforestation that occurs in the world and what hemp can do to stop it.

Cannabis And Inflammatory Bowel Disorder

Cannabis And Inflammatory Bowel Disorder; Stoner Guide

If you’re not familiar with inflammatory bowl disease, it is when the gastrointestinal system becomes inflamed. Basically, your intestines get sick. This kind of condition includes disorders like Crohn’s, lymphocytic colitis, and ulcerative colitis. These disorders can cause extreme pain and discomfort for the person afflicted, sometimes even disrupting daily life and leaving the sufferer defeated and without hope. Crohn’s patients especially suffer if their condition doesn’t improve, with the issues like intense pain and diarrhea leading to other problems such as malnutrition and dehydration.

New studies, however, are giving hope to those who previously had none when the traditional meds didn’t work. The cannabinoid receptions that are found in the human nervous system (CB1 and CB2) assist in gut function and the endocannabinoid system that we possess has been found to be extremely important in maintaining the gut’s overall function in daily life. While there haven’t been too many studies conducted as of late, seeing as the plant remains illegal, there is some new information being released that cannabis may be an optimal treatment for those patients who have IBD.

In 2011, there was a study done that found that 51% of ulcerative colitis patients and 48% of Crohn’s patients are lifetime cannabis consumers, believing that the plant had more of an effect on their symptoms than the prescribed medicine. Since cannabis works in regard to pain, inflammation, loss of appetite, and nausea control, it seems like the plant would be the best medicine for those suffering with this condition. Of the numbers listed above, there were 33% of the UC patients and 50% of the Crohn’s patients actually using the cannabis directly for their symptoms, thanks to medical marijuana laws.

A retrospective study in 2011 observed patients with Crohn’s and found out that after starting a medical cannabis program, twenty one out of the thirty subjects found that their symptoms had greatly improved after started the use of the plant. In addition, they found that they needed less of their pharmacy prescribed medicine as well, leaving them to medicate naturally. There were also fifteen of the patients who needed surgery prior to the use of the cannabis. Those fifteen people collectively went through nineteen surgeries in a span of nine years but three years after the start of incorporating the plant in to their lifestyle, there were only two surgeries needed.

In order to back up the findings, another study was conducted of twenty one patients with Crohn’s. They were divided in to two groups, a control and an active treatment. The active treatment group was able to ingest medical cannabis while the control was not. More patients in the active treatment group managed to achieve complete remission, eliminating all of their symptoms but the result was not statistically significant and could possibly mean that the different was simply a chance occurrence. Regardless, there was a significant change in the results that showed patients were more likely to decrease their Crohn’s Disease Activity Index score, which means that their condition was on the upswing. Those in the placebo group didn’t have this decrease. Add in the fact that three of the eleven patients in the active treatment group were able to reduce or completely eliminate the use of their doctor prescribed steroid medicine.

Five Reasons Why The Government Wants To Keep Weed Illegal

Five Reasons Why The Government Wants To Keep Weed Illegal; Stoner Guide

Even though there are tons of benefits to cannabis, the government doesn’t seem to want to let up on tossing people in jail for it. There are raids on dispensaries, arrests in illegal states for possession of less than a gram, and totally innocent people being thrown in jail for growing their own medicine. It doesn’t seem fair and with all of the new evidence coming out that weed is actually good for people, you would think that the government would really rethink their actions. Sadly, they don’t think the same as us. And here’s five reasons as to why.

1. The War On Drugs

Even though it looks like the government is losing a ton of money on this “war”, they’re actually making a profit. It may cost them money to raid and plunder peaceful weed farmers and shops but think of the mountains of cash that they make from the legal fees. Not to mention the tax money that comes in to fund the prisons where they keep these completely non-violent people for 25 to life.

2. Loss Of Control

Fear of consequences keeps the general public in line. By making enlightening, helpful substances like cannabis legal, the government would lose control over the people. New ideas would spread and the government could possibly face extreme changes if too many people opened their eyes.

3. Confiscate For Resale

It’s highly probable that a lot of the marijuana confiscated in raids and arrests makes it’s way back in to the illegal market somehow. And by somehow, it’s assumed that the government themselves sends the plant back in to circulation, making a profit for themselves. Get it for free, sell it for a pretty penny.

4. Loss Of A Scapegoat

Marijuana has posed as a scapegoat for the government for years. It makes people crazy, causes women to be promiscuous, and will likely cause you to kill yourself (or so they say). Without cannabis to blame, the government loses the ability to scare the young in to their close-minded way of thinking, creating a new generation of free thinkers.

5. Pride

For years, the government has been against marijuana, arresting people for it and publicly shaming it. After all of those years, do you think that admitting they’ve been wrong the whole time would be easy? Absolutely not. In order to save face, the government can’t really just come out and say “Hell yeah, weed!”, am I right?

What’s In Your Weed

What’s In Your Weed? Stoner Guide

THC: This compound in marijuana is good for the relief from pain, while simultaneously reducing nausea and vomiting. It also stimulates the appetite and can suppress muscle spasms. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana that makes you get stoned.

CBD: Get ready to read because the list of what CBD helps with is a long one! Starting at being a pain reliever, CBD will also help with killing the growth of harmful bacteria, reducing the levels of blood sugar, reducing nausea, relieving seizures and convulsions, reduces inflammation in joints and muscles, reduces the risk of artery blockage, inhibits the growth of cancer cells, treats psoriasis, manages psychosis, suppresses muscle spasms, relieves anxiety, promotes bone growth, reduces function in the immune system, reduces any contractions in the small intestine, and also protects to neurological system from any outside threat. Needless to say, CBD is a total asset the human body and should be utilized in order to better human life.

CBG: Cannabigerol is found in plants most commonly grown for hemp, rather than the desired stoned effect from plants high in THC. This substance helps to kill growing bacteria, reduce inflammation, prevent growth of tumors, kill cancer cells, and promote bone growth.

CBN: Cannabinol is the substance in marijuana that makes you tired. So if you have problems sleeping, this is what you should be trying to track down. The CBN in cannabis is a pain reliever, it aids in sleeping, and suppresses muscle spasms. Basically making it easy for you to all asleep and stay that way until the morning arrives.

CBC: Another not-so-known substance contained in our favorite plant, CBC (or cannabichromene) is responsible for a few things as well. The benefits of CBN are as follows with relieving pain, anti-inflammatory properties, inhibits cancer and tumor growth, and promotes healthy bone growth.

These are just a few of the important pieces of the cannabis plant. With over 60 cannabinoids found in the magical weed, I can’t go through and list them all but these are some of the important ones. Of course, they’re all important. You should be aware of all of these compounds, as every single one contributes to the plant that we love so much. Knowing these things will also help you to convince non-smokers that the plant isn’t nearly as bad as everyone has been led to believe.

The Business Of Marijuana

The Business Of Marijuana; Stoner Guide

Many people who are pro marijuana use the argument “There’s so much money to be made!” when combating someone who doesn’t see the plant the same. And while it is a valid point to say that there is money to be made, there are plenty of people that will be “that guy” and ask you how. How is there money to be made? What does one have to do to make money in the marijuana business? The following is a few guidelines to what will create revenue in the marijuana industry.

People at See Change Strategy were curious to know exactly how much money would be made in the cannabis business, which seems to be pretty profitable even now when it’s in the emerging stages. The company decided to analyze the legal market of marijuana, asking where things are, where they’ll be in a few years, and what we have to fight against. The study shows staggering numbers in favor of the plant, as you can see outlined briefly below.

As of right now, the medical marijuana business is pulling in about $1.7 billion. That’s the market value of the plant right now, as I type this. Considering that the national debt is somewhere around $17.9 trillion, I would say that we need all of the help that we can get when it comes to making money. In addition, the project marijuana business profits will reach above $8.9 billion in the next five years, pouring money back in to schools, roads, and other programs while the feds figure out who got all that money they spent.

With the implementation of a medical cannabis program nationwide, patients everywhere will be able to get a substance that will actually work to cure their ailments. 24.8 million people in the United States are eligible for marijuana medicine under current laws, which means that close to that amount will be able to say goodbye to prescription meds once and for all. The legalization of medical marijuana would also lead to new business ventures in paraphernalia, marijuana infused products, and the wholesale distribution of the plants, flowers, leaves, and seeds.

The goal of the so called “Drug War” was to turn people away from using substances like marijuana. Thousands of dollars spent on “preventing” use, when they could have been making all of that money back and then some. Those involved in the marijuana industry that participated in this study said that they expect the business to grow at least 90% in the next few years, as more states lean towards full legalization. Cannabis is here to stay and people need to learn that. The plant doesn’t harm anyone and can only bring good in to a bleak looking world.

CBD or THC; Stoner Guide

THC is the active component in cannabis that gets the user high. Most people who smoke weed are solely after the THC. But this substance isn’t what cures cancer or other illnesses. The curing element of cannabis is CBD. This incredible compound is responsible for the reduction of tumors, decreases in seizures, and the curing of other ailments such as muscle pain, headaches, and eating disorders. So what’s important to know about CBD?

– It’s still very illegal. Even though the substance doesn’t get the user stoned and instead, promotes a healthier body while at the same time curing current problems, the government still sees it as a schedule one substance, making it extremely illegal to possess and ingest cannabis oil containing CBD in most states.

– CBD is non psychoactive, meaning that it will not get you stoned. Since there are no mental effects on the user, CBD represents more of the medical side to cannabis, as it is the compound that cures cancer and other illnesses. Since marijuana is looked at for the “negative” effects that it has on people because it gets the user high, CBD shouldn’t be looked at in the same light at all, considering it is for pure health benefits.

– Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t need to be heated to take effect nor does it need to be smoked, negating the idea that ingesting CBD can still be bad for you. Most patients that take CBD for ailments use an oil form, making it easy to eat or add to already prepared meals. Ingesting CBD in oil or capsule form has absolutely no ill side effects.

– Medical benefits of this substance are endless, as stated above. CBD is just now starting to be studied by scientists and doctors, something that definitely should have been done a long time ago. CBD can treat cancer, seizures, anxiety, inflammation, neurological issues, arthritis, and numerous other disorders that effect the human body.

– When THC is ingested, the human mind becomes more in tune to smaller details, which can lead to the “everyone is staring at me” or “why am I doing this wrong” kind of thinking. Strains that are more even in the CBD/THC ratio prevent this over analyzing stoner problem. This is how CBD can really help with anxiety, as it is the compound in marijuana that allows the user to slow things down.

The Purse Of A Female Stoner

The Purse Of A Female Stoner; Stoner Guide

Girls are pretty prepared for whatever for the most part. We carry around these huge purses that seem to hold every single necessary item that a human could use during the day from floss to makeup to a pad of paper and pencil. A girl’s purse is an amazing thing. For stoner girls especially, there are some very specific items that should be carried at all times. Not only will you save yourself with these things but you’ll look awesome to your friends when no one has a lighter and BAM! Your purse produces a Bic that saves the day.

1. The Bic

Of course you should carry a lighter in your purse! Or at least matches. Something to light weed on fire with. I have lighter as well as hemp wick in my bag, just in case someone around me is smoking and needs a flame.

2. Eye Drops

Not everyone uses them but for those stoners that do, eyedrops can be your best friend. Especially for those stoners that live in hotter climates with dry air, some relief from dry, itchy eyes will leave you to enjoy your high completely.

3. Perfume Or Oils

Not everyone likes when a lady smells like good kush. It’s important to keep some sort of good smelling substance in your bag just in case someone feels like hot boxing. Trust me, people will like you a lot more if you smell like a field of daisies as compared to a smoked bowl.

4. Knife

Whether you’re cutting blunts open or in a bad part of town, having a knife can come in way handier than a lot of people think. It’s really not just a weapon and can double as a screwdriver, a lever, or to remove small bits of weed from under your nails after you roll a blunt.

5. Rolling papers/Crutches

Even if you prefer glass, there are occasions where a glass piece is just not practical. In these events, having rolling papers and some crutches on you will help out a lot. You’ll have a way to smoke your weed and your friends will love you for it.

6. Gum

Cures cottonmouth and makes your breath smell great? Sounds perfect! Be sure to keep a pack or two of gum in your bag. I say two because if you pull out a pack in a car of stoners, you will be sharing. Or you’ll be listening to complaining potheads the whole ride.

7. Extra cash

You never know when you’re going to run out of weed. Or need to grab a cab. Maybe extra gas. Or you need emergency munchies. It’s super important to keep spare cash in your bag somewhere. It will definitely come in handy one of these days.

Ten Health Benefits To Consuming Cannabis

Ten Health Benefits To Consuming Cannabis; Stoner Guide

“It’s bad for your health,” they said. “If you smoke it, you’ll go crazy,” they said. Well these days, we all know that these two things (among the many other nonsense statements about weed) aren’t true. The government has lied about this plant since they realized what effect it would have on people in regards to health benefits and enlightenment. So for years, we’ve shunned the use of this plant much like we shun the use of cocaine and heroin. Unfortunately, we’ve been outcasting a plant that could have not only changed our history, but could have greatly changed the way that we live and function today.

1. Relieves symptoms of chronic disease that can cause death in some people. This includes irritable bowl syndrome as well as Crohn’s, along with any other abdominal malfunction.

2. Our world is full of stressors… And stressors can cause some massive headaches. Thanks to cannabis, most of these migraine sufferers were able to cure their pain with some cannabis. Doctors in California backed the claim up, saying that more than 300,000 of migraines have been treated using cannabis.

3. Suffering from PMS? Or maybe just cramps? Whatever the case, cannabis is shown to improve overall feeling and health for menstruating females. And for some people, that can be a debilitating time of the month.

4. Since cannabis possesses compounds that effect how our brain functions, the plant can calm down those who suffer from OCD and Tourette’s. The plant makes some people slow way down, which would help those suffering from OCD to chill and stop cleaning as well as preventing muscle spasms and twitches that are sometimes associated with Tourette’s.

5. In 2009, a study was released that stated that cannabis was a perfectly logical and acceptable alternative for Ritalin, one of the primary medications given to those who are diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. However, with ingredients comparable to the active ingredient in the street drug speed, Ritalin’s health effects have been questioned.

6. Multiple sclerosis doesn’t stand up to cannabis either. The cannabinoids found in the plant work to stop the effects of the sometimes deadly disease by protecting the damaged nerves from getting even more damaged.

7. Tumors and cancerous cells have been shown to drastically decrease when cannabis is introduced in to the system. With more research, it is likely that scientists will develop some sort of cure for cancer using the cannabis plant.

8. Some patients that suffer with epilepsy never find relief for their symptoms and are forced to suffer and ingest sometimes harmful medications that don’t always work. Marijuana actually helps to decrease the amount of seizures that a person has, seeing as how the plant is a muscle relaxer.

9. A 2006 study showed that cannabis had an effect on those suffering from Alzheimer’s. The study stated that THC clogged the holes that lead to the formation of Alzheimer’s in the brain, therefore preventing the degenerative nature of the disease.

10. Glaucoma puts extreme pressure on the eyes and scientists are beginning to think that the cannabinoids in marijuana can reverse that pressure and make it easier and less painful on the patient. Marijuana lowers the intraocular pressure in the eyes, reversing the effects of the glaucoma.

The Process Of Dabbing

The Process Of Dabbing; Stoner Guide

Dabbing is still pretty new to some people and some stoners haven’t even had the pleasure of experiencing concentrated THC.

I, myself, just tried concentrates for the first time the other day.

There are many reasons why people wait to try concentrates. Some just don’t trust the product in their area, some are just dead-set on smoking flowers. Whatever the case may be, there are some stoners who have never touched a dab. So in their defense when their first time does actually roll around, I’ve put together a process of dabbing so that new dabbers can study up before they dab out!

01  The first step of the process is to obtain the product.

stoners marijuana pot weed stoned sexy stoner (242)

While flowers can be very easy to get a hold of, dabs aren’t so much. There is a lot of work that goes in to making this product which makes it sometimes impossible to find. It’s a good idea to get product from a clinic or someone you trust, to make sure that it’s not totally tainted with butane, chlorophyl, or other contaminates. Getting your concentrates is the first step in the process of dabbing.

02 Be sure you have the correct setup.

blunts-bongs-marijuana-pot-stonerdays (396)

A nail is the most preferred method of dabbing although there are some who will wrap wax around joints, use hot knives (not recommended), or other simpler ways. But your best bet is to get a rig, with a good nail (ceramic or titanium), and a decent torch that will help you get the temp of the nail to where it needs to be!

03 Grab a dab!

blunts-bongs-marijuana-pot-stonerdays (297)

Take your dabber (either made of glass or titanium, not a good idea to use odd things around the house like bobby pins or paper clips, like some people have chosen to use. If this is your first time dabbing, it’s recommended that you take a small one. The concentrates hit people hard sometimes and you don’t want to end up in a dab coma in front of your friends.

04 Dome nails helps the vapor to get back down through the pipe when the nail heats it up.

blunts-bongs-marijuana-pot-stonerdays (459)

This gives you a better hit and ensures that you don’t lose much. Always remember that taking a dab is not like hitting a bong and if you try to remove the nail, there’s a strong chance you’re going to burn your fingers.

05 Once everything has been set up, heat your nail.

blunts-bongs-marijuana-pot-stonerdays (389)

Unless you have a laser heat gun, you won’t be able to tell the temperature… Other than it being HOT! Most stoners seem to think that heating the nail until it gains a dull red hue and then letting it cool for about 15 seconds is a good way to do it. Although a lot of the nails are different and it will take you a little bit to get used to the specific kind of nail that you use.

06 Once the nail is hot, simply drop your concentrate on the nail

blunts-bongs-marijuana-pot-stonerdays (377)

If you’re using a dome, you can place it on the nail at this point in the process. whether you’re using a dabber or just rolled up a little ball of wax. Inhale through the piece like you would with a bong hit but remember that the nail doesn’t come out! Don’t try to pull it out. Inhale until the smoke has cleared and exhale. This is the process of dabbing!

The Stoner’s Guide To Road Trips

The Stoner’s Guide To Road Trips

Recently, my little family and I decided to uproot ourselves and travel across the country from our home on the east coast to California. The trip seemed like a really good idea when we started planning everything out. We were ready to go! But what we didn’t really plan for was that taking a van across the country can be a lot tougher than people realize. Every little incident effects the trip as a whole and it’s important to know what to expect before dropping everything for good old fashioned van life.

– Bring Weed… But Don’t Be Stupid

Unless you have a connect in every state, it’s probably a good plan to bring some bud with you. Another good idea? Buy smell proof bags and it’s also a good idea to buy a safe. Hide the safe somewhere in the car and only take the weed supplies out when you need them. No need to get arrested on this journey right?

 – Pack Lightly

Taking extra stuff can seem like a good idea. “Oh well I might need this, or that, or all of it!” But in reality, everything is just a thing and can easily be replaced. Material possessions will only hold you back from getting to where you really want to be. Don’t let stuff get in the way of achieving your goals. Also, lighter bags will give you a little added gas mileage.

– Drink Lots Of Water

Especially if you’re smoking, it’s so important to stay hydrated. If you travel through hotter states in hotter months, be sure to keep ice on hand as well. The hot states can really ruin a trip, especially in the summer. Stay cool and be sure that you drink plenty of water (not soda… They are not the same thing. Beer also doesn’t count as water).

– Plan Your Route… But Not Too Carefully

Plans don’t stay set in stone when you travel across the country. Be sure that you’re prepared to change routes, make unplanned stops, and deal with problems that you never anticipated. From breakdowns in the mountains (thank you Black Mountain, North Carolina for killing my van) to horrible insect attacks (chiggers in Arkansas), you can only plan on not planning when you decide to do this.

– Brace Yourself For Weather

Storms come out of nowhere, especially in the midwest. All that flat land? Be careful of being the highest point in the middle of the barren wasteland that is I-40 or any other highway that you may choose to travel on. Weather is not something that you want to mess with on a roadtrip.

As I reminisce about the trip, I will be sure to include more advice on what to do or not do when traveling around. There are definitely things that I’m forgetting to include in this piece so I’ll be sure to write another once I think of more. Until then, good luck planning your stoney roadtrip and BE SAFE.

Five Ways To Tell A Stoner

Five Ways To Tell A Stoner; Stoner Guide

Stoners these days aren’t necessarily wearing tie dye… Or calling everyone “dude” for that matter. New age stoners are harder to spot but not impossible. A seasoned stoner knows when someone else smokes weed… And even if they don’t, there’s a strong chance that they do. Most people these days smoke weed. So how does one be sure before directing the conversation to cannabis? Here are five ways to tell a new age stoner from a non-smoker.

01 If you subtlety bring up marijuana in conversation, other stoners can tend to pick up one it. Mention 4:20, green vegetative matter, and other not-so-obvious terms. If the person you’re talking to smokes bud, they’re definitely going to pick up on the comments you make. Don’t be too obvious in case they’re not feeling it. If you make enough sneaky comments, the person might actually bring up weed themselves and you won’t have to feel weird about bringing it up yourself.

02 If you notice the person seems to carry a lighter but doesn’t smoke cigarettes, they’re probably a stoner. I don’t know about you guys but I always carry an extra Bic on me, just in case someone whips out a bowl and needs a spark. Stoners are always prepared to smoke so if you notice that someone around you always has a flame but never smokes a cigarette, you might want to get in to a conversation with them and refer back to #1.

03 Going along with aforementioned lighter carrying, if that particular lighter seems to have black gunk on the bottom corners, the person probably smokes weed. Lighters that belong to stoners are usually used to crush down weed in the bowl, moving around the contents in order to see if there’s still a salvageable hit in there.

04 If the topic of travel comes up and places like Colorado, California, Washington, and Amsterdam seem to be a shared destination of both parties, you’re both probably stoners. Since these places are such hot spots for cannabis tourism, most people that want to visit them are partaking of the ganja themselves. Who knows, you may find a new best friend to travel and smoke with!

05 They say things like “no worries”, “chill”, and “down”. Even though there are many different kinds of people that smoke weed, stoners usually can’t resist tossing these words in to conversation. This one won’t work for everyone, as some stoners have been able to really refine their language. But for the younger stoners, words and phrases like these are a telltale sign of toking!

Five Ways To Tell A Stoner; Stoner Guide

Things Non-Stoners Say To Stoners

Things Non-Stoners Say To Stoners; Stoner Guide

Smoking with a newbie can be really fun. They get super stoned, super fast and usually can be pretty amusing. Unfortunately (and much like alcohol), some people just smoke too much and can’t handle it, turning them in to an awfully annoying nuisance to your normally chill smoke session. Thankfully, most of us have been in this position and this list will prepare you for the absolute worst case scenario that could possibly happen when you’re smoking with a noob.

01 “I can’t be high around my roommate/boyfriend/girlfriend/family.”

Listen… Handle your shit. Learn to function in a social setting while you’re high or you shouldn’t be smoking. If you can’t share the fact that you smoke with those around you, it’s extremely important to act normal (or just always act high) and then there will be no questions as to your higher state of mind. Don’t let anyone try to tell you that they can’t be high around a significant other. That’s grounds for dumping (if they don’t like the fact that you like getting high, then they probably don’t like the real you! Just saying!)

02 “I can’t smoke! I have to drive/work!”

Chill. You’ll be okay. Relax and don’t forget to breathe. Weed doesn’t make many people freak out and if you think that you’re going to, you just need to remember that everything happens for a reason and if you freak out, you’re only going to make things worse. Although weed panic attacks are few and far between, they do happen to some people. But you gotta work through it… There’s not really a whole lot of reasons to not be stoned, am I right?

03 “I feel like it makes me too awkward!”

Weed relaxes barriers and allows people to bond over passing a blunt back and forth! It’s important to just chill, let the weed open your mind to making new friends, new connections. If you think that you’re awkward, you’re going to be awkward. Remember, everyone was a newbie at some point in their life!

04 “I cough too much!”

Everybody coughs sometimes. You’re smoking. It’s bound to irritate your throat a bit. If you think that smoking is too much, you can try edibles, dabs, or tinctures in place of regular flower. Coughing doesn’t have to happen and therefore isn’t really an excuse not to smoke!

05 “I’ll smell!”

… Really? With the invention of cologne, perfume, and the wondrous Febreze, there’s absolutely no way anyone will be able to detect the marijuana scent on you. And if you’re worried about smelling, don’t smoke in enclosed spaces. Instead, head for the spots that are in nature! Blow the smoke downwind and wash your hands after you’re done. Cannabis smoke doesn’t linger like the smell of cigarettes so if you’re careful enough, you’ll never smell like weed.

06 “I can French inhale!”

If you’ve only been smoking for a short amount of time, you probably can’t French inhale. Some people can, don’t get me wrong. But some seem to think that they can master the smoke tricks right away. In reality, they usually end up exhaling a bunch of smoke that they didn’t even inhale and sort of waste the hit. It’s best to leave the smoke tricks to the pros, until you learn how to do them with your own bud (it’s just kind of a stoner etiquette thing… Don’t waste your friend’s weed!).

07 “I’m just going to fall asleep.”

Well then drink some coffee! Have a Redbull! Do something to get up off your butt and get active. Successful stoners are the only way that we can really get rid of the lazy pothead stereotype, something that shouldn’t even be a thought in people’s minds anymore. Considering there are tons of people working all different careers that smoke copious amounts of weed, chances are you’re not going to fall asleep. And if you do, maybe you should pass on that last hit next time. Be strong, new stoners!

08 “I don’t know how to light it!”

I’ve definitely had some newbies ask me to light the bong for them. Unfortunately for them, the only way you learn is by doing it yourself. No, no one wants to light the bowl for you. Or the joint. Or the blunt. If you’re unsure of how to light weed paraphernalia, get on YouTube and study that shit!

09 “Marijuana smells bad.”

marijuana stinks
Then don’t smoke it. Stoners love the smell of weed and freshly ground bud is better than coffee, pancakes, or bacon (Ok… Maybe not bacon). But weed doesn’t smell bad and if you think it does, don’t smoke it. It’s a flower and a beautiful smelling one at that!

10 “I don’t like the feeling I get when I smoke.”

So you don’t like relaxing? Chilling out? Slowing everything down? Or maybe you like taking regular medicine for your headaches instead? Everyone feels different on weed but then again, everyone requires a different strain. If you’re not getting the feeling you like from the weed, you need to get more weed. Novices tend to let a single bad weed experience ruin the rest of their weed smoking career. Don’t! There’s so many strains, you just need to find the best one for you!

Five Ways You SHOULDN’T Smoke

Five Ways You SHOULDN’T Smoke; Stoner Guide

Smoking weed is great. You get stoned, put on music or cartoons, go on an adventure, whatever. Plus the process of getting high is always pretty fun. Grinding, rolling, packing, lighting. It’s a great process. Then you get to smoke your hard work and just straight up relax. But we all know (even though some won’t admit) that most of us, have at one time or another, smoked out of a piece that may have had some risks associated with it. Not all pieces and papers are made with stoner love. Some of these products are made by big corporations (ahem, Zig Zag) that are’t all about the natural. Plus, there are some ways that you really just shouldn’t smoke, due to the crazy health risks that may be associated with that particular method.

1. Plastic water bottles may seem awesome in a pinch when you’ve got bud and no way to smoke it. But let’s be clear; that plastic is not meant to be heated and the hot smoke may release chemicals in the plastic that may be harmful to your health. Plastic that is heated to extremely high temperatures will release gases such as cyanide and carbon monoxide, which actually contributed to an eighth graders death back in 2011.

2. If you happen to be at home without a piece (or perhaps you’re visiting parents somewhere or just a young kid who can’t buy real glass yet, in which case you shouldn’t be toking yet anyway), you may find yourself gravitating towards the tin foil. Let me stop you right there. With a melting point of around 1200 F, Bic lighters burn at around a whopping 3,000+ F (I’m not kidding, look it up! Zippos can burn as hot as 4,000!). Of course the outside factors such as the temperature of the air, the wind, and other things will effect the flames heat. But basically, you’re melting the foil and releasing a gas called AIH (aluminum hydrate) that can cause neuron damage in the brain and an increased chance of getting breast cancer, especially in women.

3. Hash is a great thing to smoke. It gets you super baked, super fast. But smoking hash (or any substance) with hot knives from your kitchen isn’t a good plan if you want to keep those lungs made of iron! Since most flatware is made with cheap ingredients, toxic gasses can be inhaled along with the THC, such as carbon monoxide. These utensils aren’t meant to be heated to this point and most of the time, the metal will begin to oxidize, releasing fumes that have been linked to both cancer and Alzheimer like symptoms. If you do feel compelled to attempt this method, it is STRONGLY suggested that you go out to your local head shop (or sniff around online) to find glass paddles. These tools are made of boro glass and will not release such hazardous chemicals.

4. Aluminum cans, much like the water bottles, seem like they would be good in a tight situation in which you don’t have a piece. However, much like the tin foil, these pieces will let off toxic gases like AIH and others, causing serious side effects for those who use these methods long term. It is never recommended that you smoke out of any sort of metal and if someone feels the need to inform you that they “did it and nothing happened to me”, just shake your head and walk away.

5. Most rolling paper companies make their products out of good substances… Rice paper, organic, soy ink, no bleach, etc. These people work really hard to make their papers healthy so that patients and recreational users alike can enjoy them. However, there are still companies that produce papers that aren’t so great. Zig Zag for instance, uses high amounts of bleach in their papers. Meaning that one of the most famous brands of paper around aren’t actually that great in the first place. Top papers also contain bleach and are made from some unknown combination of crappy wood pulp, bleach, and nasty tasting gum.

Smoking should always be done at the healthiest way possible. Since people enjoy using the argument that smoking anything in general is bad for you, it’s best to not give them even more ammunition against smoking pot. Not only are the above ways bad for you, some of them also look like you’re using other drugs. If you think that that statement is ridiculous, you must be forgetting the fact that anti-cannabis groups are using “BHO is the crack of cannabis” as a legitimate argument against the plant. Stay high, stay healthy, and stay safe!

How To Make An Apple Pipe

How To Make An Apple Pipe; Stoner Guide

Here are simple instructions on making yourself an apple pipe just in case you find yourself with no pipe and a bag of kush.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Ballpoint Pen
  • Knife
  • Apple
  • and of course Kush

Make sure the apple you use is fresh. A soft apple could collapse while you’re trying to bore the holes. It’s ideal to use the type of ball-point pen with a tip you can unscrew so you can take out the ink well. Otherwise, you may spill ink all over the apple. Once you take out the ink well, screw the tip back on.

Don’t use a pencil. It’s likely to break inside the apple while you’re trying to make a hole with it.

Start by removing the stem and cut a bowl shaped impression into the apple. The bottom of the bowl should reach the top of the apple’s core. Get an apple and a pen. This pipe is considered “pure” because all you need to make it is an apple and stick-like device, such as a pen, with a tip sharp enough to poke a hole in the apple.

Remove the stem from the apple. You can use your fingers to twist or pull it off or cut a slit around the stem to remove it. Make sure you get the entire stem; if it breaks, dig into the hole with your fingers and remove it from the base

Bore a hole through the top of the apple. Place the pointed tip over the hole where the stem used to be and jam the pen into the apple at a slight angle. Push it into the apple until you’ve made a hole that extends about halfway through the apple.

  • If the apple is difficult to push through, it may help to use a twisting motion as you push.
  • Once you make the initial hole with the pen’s tip, you can remove the pen, unscrew the tip, and use the tipless pen to push into the apple. The apple will slide into the hollow pen. When you’re finished making the hole, remove the pen and discard the apple piece

Bore a second hole near the bottom of the apple. It should be about half an inch from the hole at the apple’s base. Insert the pen and poke a hole that meets up with the first hole you poked. This will be used as your carb.

Place your kush on top of the apple and enjoy!

Birds Good For Your Marijuana Plants

Birds Good For Your Marijuana Plants

Oh, the wonderful majesty of the bird!  They come in all sizes and colors and have the enviable ability to soar high in the sky.  And they just may be high in the sky if they’ve paid your cannabis garden a visit before setting off into flight! Many birds eat worms, caterpillars and other squiggly creatures, which can certainly be a help if your marijuana is plagued with the creepy crawlies.  But guess what else birds eat?  Yep, seeds!  There are even certain types of birds which have an affinity for marijuana seeds.  Many of the hemp loving feathered wonders are game birds.

birds cannabis stonerdays

Here is a partial listing of birds preferring marijuana seeds:  passenger pigeon, morning dove, bobwhite quail, ringtail pheasant, hemp linnet, magpie, starling, tree sparrow, English sparrow, nuthatch, lesser spotted woodpecker and the turtledove. Download my free marijuana grow bible to learn how to grow huge buds. There are a few measures you can take to distract birds from dining in Mary Jane’s kitchen.  For starters, you can throw in a few scarecrows.  Or tie some tin cans, aluminum pie plates or even old CDs to a string and suspend them throughout the garden.  Or you can nail them to tall stakes interspersed throughout the crop.  Birds don’t like reflective materials. Placing netting over the plants is another way to deter birds and other critters from munching on your lovingly tendered cannabis.

Perhaps the most effective way to keep birds from dining in your garden is to set up their own exclusive restaurant and keep it stocked.  Install a bird feeder far enough away from the plants you don’t want damaged so they won’t mistake your crop as an aviary bed and breakfast. How To Roll A Bloint

How To Roll A Bloint; Stoner Guide

Big thanks to @clairvoyager

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Scissors
  • Blunt wrap
  • Notorious Big Wraps
  • Razor blade
  • ruler
  • and of course kush

To weave a fruit flavored “bloint” (joint/blunt) you’ll need the supplies pictured here. The blunt wrap and flavor of joints are up to you, however I find Notorious BIG wraps the easiest to weave with.

bloint-1 stonerdays

Begin by using the razor blade to cut strips of equal width. It’s very important you don’t cut all the way across the blunt. Leave about an inch of space so the wrap stays in one piece.

bloint-2 stonerdays

Cut strips of your rolling paper out that are the same width.

Weaving the papers through is easiest when they are at an angle. That way you can focus on one blunt strip at a time when pushing it over or under the paper.

bloint-5 stonerdays

Pull each paper strip down until it’s tight against the other strips to minimize holes.

bloint-7 stonerdays

Once you have weaved all the way to the end you can cut off the excess paper on each side of the blunt.

bloint-8 stonerdays

Wet all the edges down to secure the paper to the blunt. When it has dried you can roll your final product.

Once you have rolled your Bloint kick back and enjoy!

Your Bloint is now complete and ready for smoking! Enjoy 😎 . Big thanks to @clairvoyager! Check him out on IG.

How To Roll A Bloint

Private Jet Joint; Stoner Guide

Private Jet Joint; Stoner Guide

To roll a Private Jet Joint, you’ll need the following supplies:

  • Transparent papers
  • regular rice papers
  • scissors
  • ravor
  • and of course herb

The first step of construction is to assemble the fuselage or the main part of the plane. This is to be rolled with the transparent papers. A skilled roller can roll it but I recommend molding the see-through papers around a pen that has the same shape as a plane fuselage. Transparent papers will slide right off the pen if they are fully dry.

Set the fuselage to the side for now, as the wings are next. You’ll need to roll two thin joints of equal length for the wings.

Stuff your mold with grinded herb and then put a filter/crutch into an end to keep the bud in place. The plane will be smoked from this filter once completed.

If the joint paper is made slightly moist you should be able to bend the joints slowly til they fit this shape.

Attach a layer of paper between the joints on one side. Then flip it over and fill the middle cavity with more herb.

Seal the cavity shut with another layer of paper and then make a slit in the middle where the wing will be attached to the fuselage.

The illusion of windows and a windshield can be made by cutting holes just like this on a sheet of rolling paper to be wrapped around the fuselage.

Use the scissors to make a corresponding slit on the fuselage where the wings will connect. This hole will allow airflow so the plane can be successfully smoked like a cross joint.

Attach the wings to the main body with another small piece of paper.

To make turbines for the rear of the plane I simply rolled a joint and cut small sections out to attach to the filter. The tail wing can be made using cardboard and can be slid into a small slit cut into the filter. Both the tail wing and turbines are for aesthetic value and don not change the function of the joint, infancy the tail wing should be removed before smoking.

Your Private Jet Joint is now complete and ready for take off! Enjoy 😎 . Big thanks to @clairvoyager! Check him out on IG.

Pure VS Hybrid

Pure VS Hybrid; Stoner Guide

More strains of marijuana are introduced to the market every day. Growers are always creating and breeding new strains of cannabis, giving the consumer hundreds of different choices. Cannabis is grouped in to two different catagories; sativa and indica. Mixing these two different types create a hybrid, a plant which contain characteristics from a sativa strain and an indica strain. There are large differences between the pure strains and the hybrid strains. Some stoners will only smoke pure strains rather than hybrids.

The hybrids are definitely more of a common type of cannabis, easier to find in illegal places rather than pure strains. Another argument for the pros of hybrids is that they can be stronger than pure strains, since combining two extremely strong cannabis strains can make an even stronger result. This is a goal that many growers try to achieve, probably why the amount of hybrid weed available is so high. The cons of the mixing of strains is that there are some stoners who believe that mixing the two genes are completely ruining the cannabis gene pool and that strains should never be combined.

Pure strains are sought after because they are incredibly rare. A pure strain of sativa will allow users to get an active high, wanting to get things done as opposed to the indica strains, the kind of cannabis that locks you to the couch for hours. By not mixing the two, one can receive the full effects of that specific type of cannabis. There are some people who believe that the strains should always remain pure and that’s how they are suppose to be enjoyed. The pure indicia and sativa strains are especially loved because they are so rare. Having a hard to find strain can give you some status in the cannabis world, especially when you meet up with your buddies to smoke and you have the best weed out of the group!

Even though some stoners don’t think that the strains should be mixed, it’s good that growers and breeders are experiencing with new ideas. With more blends will come more strains that can help patients that need both sativa and indica qualities in their medicine. While sativa strains allow the user to go about their day without the tiring effects of indica, the latter prevents and stops pain. Combining the two strains can only benefit those patients that need cannabis to function during their daily activities.

Cannabis Quality Control

Cannabis Quality Control

Finding a job in the cannabis industry is tough, especially because it’s so new. Not to mention the plant is still illegal under federal law so finding a job can be incredibly difficult. Growing is extremely tough, getting a spot at a dispensary is somewhat impossible, and any other position is few and far between. If you want to work in the cannabis industry, you have to take what you can get. However, if you live in the Denver area, you may be in luck for a new (and very dank) career.

maijuana jobs (2)

Imagine scrolling through the Help Wanted ads and stumbling across something saying that a company is looking for a Cannabis Quality Control Specialist. That’s a title that needs to be read multiple times, right? However hard it may be to believe, it’s true. A company located in Denver recently posted this kind of help wanted ad. The job entails the employee to sample cannabis products and report back to the company in an articulate, well put together way (so a bunch of jumbled words about how you managed to make it to the store to get a bag of chips doesn’t count… They want the real deal). So basically, the employee gets paid to smoke and write about weed.

maijuana jobs (3)

Having a position like this allows the company to test their products before letting them in to the public. They can perfect their goodies and release the best cannabis bud/baked goods/concentrates available. This is important, especially when gauging the strength of certain strains and edibles. Plus, how awesome would it be do get paid to test weed stuff? Free cannabis plus you get paid. There’s not many stoners that would say no to a job like that.

maijuana jobs (1)

This job is perfect for the stoner who wants to share their knowledge with others, much like a craft beer lover. Tasting and approving cannabis for the masses is important since the shops can’t just sell any old bud. Testers ensure that the public gets the best product possible and makes sure that the company is doing it’s best to sell a well grown/made product. Anything that doesn’t pass quality control? Well at least you got to test it first! If you’re interested in a job like this, start packing and head to Denver!

Tips On Finding Local Glass

Tips On Finding Local Glass – Stoner Guide

Unfortunately for stoners, not all shops are honest about the glass that they carry. Most potheads really support the local glass scene, not only because it promotes the community but because local, well made glass tends to be far more strong and durable as compared to the less then loved Chinese glass. But as said above, not all shops sell local glass and some even lie about the products that they carry. So how is an innocent stoner supposed to find good local glass?

1. Research

Social media is a great way to find local glassblowers. With the use of hashtags combined with the fact that friends can tag their buddies in photos provides a great way to discover artists in your area.

2. Visit

Even if you know that your local shops aren’t selling local glass, some employees have recommendations on who they prefer. The workers at the shops may not always agree with the fact that their shop owner sells poorly made glass and can possibly point you in the direction of a quality glass artist.

3. Talk

Ask around to your friends. Chances are someone you know knows some guy who knows some other guy who lives in a cabin in the middle of the woods and blows awesome glass pieces. Not sure if that happens in everyone’s area but living in an east coast backwoods state, this scenario is quite common. Chances are that your friends will point you in the right direction to purchase good glass.

4. Know

The key to getting good glass is knowing what to look for. If you know what qualifies as a worthwhile product, there is no salesperson around that will be able to convince you that some badly made Chinese glass compares to a good product from someone who actually took the time to craft the glass.

5. Read

Besides social media, google the different shops in your area and see what the reviews are. Not only that but a lot of well made glass companies provide you with a retail locator that will allow stoners to find great glass at shops near them.

Glass is important and you should take pride in your collection. A stoner’s collection of glass says a lot about the personality of the owner. If you fill your collection with badly made glass, your stoner friends will just shake their heads and look away when you pull out your flimsy bong that breaks if a speck of dust lands on it. No, you want a heavy glass piece that won’t break no matter how many times it gets bumped. Support the community and always buy local glass if possible!

Buy Local Glass

Buy Local Glass; Stoner Guide

Supporting local glassblowers in an important aspect in the cannabis community. Not only are there some incredibly talented glass artists out there that have very little recognition, supporting the local community is key for any cause. Of course, there are places that will try to rip you off, claiming that the glass is locally made when in reality, it’s not. There’s also a few things to look out for when buying local glass that may mean that the piece isn’t worth the price. b386d6d78b284b38b156ec6eb2f4896d-670c0567260b4e0295f4a238031522a5-54c081567d843c2a460f6a706700a8e1 Some shops selling local glass will attempt to sell damaged goods to you, while still charging the full retail price. Always make sure to inspect glass well, checking for scratches and cracks that may be hiding somewhere. Also look for bubbles, which may look cool on some pieces, but aren’t actually supposed to be there. The glass should always be thick and heavy as well. China glass is incredibly thin and will make you feel like you’re about to break it just by touching it. AR-140129897 Local glass does tend to be more expensive than China glass that you can find at gas stations. However, the higher price tag is worth the quality. Unless you’re looking for a disposable piece, be sure that the pieces you buy are made from a solid glass. Also, it helps if the person working at the shop knows where the piece came from. If you know the name of the glassblower, you can not only find their work again but have a name to give your friends when they as you where you got your awesome new piece. y0vXY7s8VDjjyQpkHbBpRdinenyAyjQqvh7fig-QXwAh7MFwuwMECKi1mKGtMy8qR7rtVKvDudfaGSsBce-KZw Glass is important to a stoner and it’s key that you buy good products. They will last you longer and are far less likely to break when you slightly bump them against a couch cushion. Local glass artists work very hard at what they do and they definitely deserve recognition for their craft, so remember to always ask the name of the person who made the piece. Most reputable shops will know where their glass comes from and if they don’t, perhaps you should visit another shop.

Trichomes; Stoner Guide

The entire point of cannabis is to harvest the trichomes and smoke them, which is what contains the THC that gets you high. Stoners have to come to believe that the more trichomes, the better. Frosty weed is highly sought after and the weed that doesn’t glisten like freshly fallen snow is definitely frowned upon. Of course most stoners prefer weed that is extremely photogenic but does cannabis containing a higher amount of trichomes necessarily mean that you’ll get a better high? Most stoners would believe that more trichomes would mean a much stronger strain.

trichomes (3)

Unfortunately, Mary Jane can be deceiving and it is possible to have a crappy high from a bud that looks incredibly frosted. This happens because the resins in the trichomes may or may not contain THC and other cannabinoids that get you really high. If the growers do not provide the plant with reason to convert cannabidol (CBD) or even cannabichromene (CBC) in to THC1. While genetics do play a part in the potency of the cannabis plant, the growers are responsible for the other half of the plant’s production of THC. The grow process is extremely important to the development of stoner trichomes and if the plants aren’t cared for properly, they will fail to produce the required reaction to make us high.

This means that there can be strains with a smaller amount of trichomes can still be strong. If there is a good amount of resin present in the trichomes, the weed can still be fairly decent. Which means that judging weed is completely irrational if you’re unable to smoke it. Shiny weed doesn’t always mean to it’s a good smoke or a good high, a very important fact to remember when you’re goofing around on Instagram or Facebook. While trichome production is important, their true strength can only be determined by a scientist with a special machine or by someone who is able to actually smoke the bud. I’m sure that we can all agree that weed cover in trichomes is our favorite however.

Filtered Rolls

Filtered Rolls; Stoner Guide

A filter for a blunt or a joint can be as simple as a rolled up piece of cardboard from the pack of papers. There are filters that are made and sold in tiny little tubes. Occasionally, there are even flavored filters, made of wood, that are sold in little tiny tubes (Which can also double as a sneaky way to transport a joint, for those of you who haven’t thought of it yet!). Some people look down on putting a filter on a joint or a blunt, saying that it ruins the taste of the weed and that, when properly rolled, won’t leave little bits of weed on your tongue after your hit.

rolling filters (1)

Filters have a few benefits. The first would be is that they create a sturdy spot where you can place your fingers when holding the joint/blunt, much like a cigarette. This study end also doubles as a crutch when someone gets slobber all over the end. With a non-filter, the roll would fall apart. With a filter, the joint/blunt has a little more stability if this occurs. It can also be fun to mix and match filters and papers, allowing you to create different tastes, as both products are sold flavored. There is also the idea that smoking a filtered joint/blunt catches some toxins, like the filter in a cigarette.

rolling filters (3)

The cons of the filter would be the fact that if you roll with a filter in it, some would say that you’re wasting a piece of perfectly good rolling paper that could be filled with weed. It is true that the filters take up a good amount of space. What if you’re low on papers? With the wooden tips, a joint can easily get stuck inside the tip, preventing you from getting at the leftover roach stuck inside. This becomes a huge issue, especially once you run out of weed and the only thing that you have left is a roach that’s stuck inside of a filter tip.

rolling filters (2)

Using a filter can also prevent resin build up at the end of the joint/blunt. Have you ever noticed how the weed near the end turns that nasty brown color due to the smoke continuously passing over it? You know that some of that is going in to your lungs when you inhale. Using the filer prevents some of that nasty resin from entering your lungs, potentially making smoking a healthier thing. It’s recommended that you try a filter at least once. Worst thing that can happen is that you don’t like it!

Stoner Guide; Cannabis And Crystals

Stoner Guide; Cannabis And Crystals

The cannabis community spans a wide variety of different people, from classy business people who like toking after a long day’s work to the humble stoner that works three jobs just to pay rent to the chemotherapy patient who just wants to eat a normal meal. It’s absolutely astounding how many people are smoking weed these days! But there has been quite a fuss recently in the social media area of the community about crystals and stones. These rocks are believed to enhance life for the person who holds them and are also used for healing, promoting good fortune, and protection. A lot of stoners are beginning to trust in the power of the crystals, believing that the stones positively interact with the spiritual aspect of cannabis, forming a very uplifting experience and energy.

Stones have been used for thousands of years as part of healing ceremonies. Every crystal has a different internal structure, which makes the crystal resonate at a certain frequency. When the resonance is applied to the bodies energy systems, it stimulates the bodies natural healing mechanisms. This very simple form of therapy for stressed out/anxious/depressed/etc patients is non-invasive and is gaining extreme popularity in the stoner community, for multiple reasons. Some stoners put crystals in the ice catchers of their bongs (after they’ve been cleaned of course), sometimes they even set them in the bong water itself. Others place the stones with their stash, hoping that the positive vibes from the crystals transfer to the cannabis, giving the person who smokes it better insight and a more uplifting experience.

Stoners just want to be happy. With the positive energy that crystals bring with them, they only enhance the happy feelings that cannabis gives users. Every stone/crystal has a different resonance, as said above, making it interesting to collect different stones and see how they effect the overall swing of things. Many stones are said to promote happiness and good luck, making them awesome for stoners who suffer from depression and anxiety, as well as patients in extreme pain. Simply by placing the crystals in the sunlight for 24 hours or so and then holding them somewhere on your person, a positive effect can definitely be felt that is only magnified by marijuana.

Another things that stoners have reportedly used the crystals for is in the gardens! Plants and crystals are known to interact extremely well together, especially when the crystals are buried in the dirt. More than one stoner says that when charged crystals were applied to dead or dying plants, the cannabis somehow managed to improve in growth and health, eventually flowering and producing bud. The crystals used in this process were usually sticks with a hexagon base and a pointy end. The pointed end was put in to the soil where the plant was potted and left there. Eventually the plants began to improve. The crystals that were primarily used for this are amethyst and clear quartz.

Some people may not buy in to the power of the crystals and brush off the effects. However, the rocks are becoming more and more popular among stoners, for one reason or another. It’s definitely recommended (since the stones are not that expensive and most can be located on eBay) that if you’re feeling down lately or your plants seem to be lacking a bit of life, you should invest in a few pieces of crystal. If their effects don’t seem to work as well for you as they do for others, the total beauty of the crystals is enough to want to collect them, just to look at them.

Stoner Guide; Weed Testing Kit

Stoner Guide; Weed Testing Kit

Stoners that aren’t in medical or legal states have a lot of trouble sometimes with the quality of the bud that they get from the street dealers. If you’re buying bud from someone who doesn’t know one strain from the other, get ready for a kit that will allow you to test the marijuana that you’re smoking. The test will not only give you a reading of how pure your weed is, but will detect any pesticides that are still present in the buds due to poor growing techniques. With marijuana becoming so widely sought after, the quality is extremely important.

Clean weed is only a few accessories away from being a reality for a lot of people, thanks to a new device called MyDx. This handheld device is able to tell you if the strain contains terpinoids, pesticides, and specific cannabinoids. The device works by the user placing a sample in a sliding tray attached to the device. There are sensors in the tray that detect the positive and negative contents of the bud. The MyDx will also tell you the effect that the bud will have on the user, such as couch-lock, uplifting feelings, or even perhaps spacey.

The company plans to take the device to the next level, continuing to make devices that test both fruits and veggies as well as water. A device like this will come in especially handy for cannabis users, even in legal states. The quality of the bud that you use should be excellent and the users have a right to know what they’re inhaling. The MyDx will end up retailing fro somewhere around $300-$400 which can seem extremely pricey. However, like most electronics, the price will end up dropping after a few months, providing enough people buy them on the launch. While the price may be high, saving up to buy a MyDx may be worth it when you think about it. The effects of pesticides on the lungs can be severe and long term, especially for patients.

Stoner Guide; Raw Cannabis

Stoner Guide; Raw Cannabis

There are many different kinds of cannabinoids that are contained in marijuana that assist with the health of the human body. Since there are different ways to ingest cannabis, the benefits are different for each different way. This blog will talk about what raw cannabis can do for us when ingested and it’s highly recommended that you attempt to work some raw cannabis in to your diet, either by juicing it or adding leaves and such to your regular meals, including burgers, salads, and even alcoholic beverages if you’re feeling like getting a little tipsy but attempting to remain healthy at the same time!

Raw cannabis contains THCA as well as THCVA, two cannabinoids that have incredible benefits for health. THCA is anti inflammatory and anti seizure, which makes it good for those with arthritis and epilepsy. The THCVA is also one of the cannabinoids that contributes to anti inflammatory properties of cannabis. In addition to the THCA and the THCVA, raw cannabis contains CBDA, which is the cannabinoid that has been proven to be anti cancer and is the primary cannabinoid that benefits cancer patients. By putting these cannabinoids in to our bodies, we not only help to boost our bodies immune system to prevent these illnesses from ever occurring or to help to cure them if they’re already present.

It’s these cannabinoids that make marijuana such an asset to human health. All of these chemicals assist in normal body function and can help a lot of sick people to get better. By not ingesting raw cannabis, you’re depriving your body of things that could really help to prevent and cure many illnesses that a lot of people deal with on a daily basis. It’s very important to know that all parts of the cannabis plant can benefit us in some way, from the seeds to the flowers. The versatile plant will only continue to gain popularity as more realize the amazing benefits it provides. With support of marijuana at a record high, at least we can see that the hard work that people have put in to the movement is finally paying off.

Stoner Guide; Cotton Mouth Cure

Stoners Guide: Cotton Mouth Cure

How annoying is it when you’re smoking with your friends and all of a sudden, you realize that your mouth is drier than the desert? Pretty annoying, I know. Not to mention that your breath probably smells like smoke. It happens to everyone when they’re smoking… Cotton mouth is notorious for sneaking up on stoners everywhere and ruining a good time! There are a few simple and AWESOME ways to fix cotton mouth, from chewing gum to ice cream!

Iced Tea

My personal favorite cure for cotton mouth in the summer would be iced tea or lemonade. Probably more so iced tea. It’s refreshing, especially in the heat and cures cotton mouth instantly, especially the unsweetened tea because there isn’t any sugar. In the winter, I love to heat up apple cider in the microwave. If you’re in for the night, add some Sailor Jerry to the mug! The spiced rum with the apple is a sure way to cancel out cotton mouth and warm you up on a freezing winter night! [Drink responsibly!]

For some reason, I seem to remember reading somewhere that Mountain Dew is an excellent cotton mouth cure. The only qualm I have with that statement is that Mountain Dew might possibly reinforce the bad breath thing. While I agree that Dew tastes good, I don’t think that it would be an awesome cure for cotton mouth. If you want to drink a soda, I recommend Izze! It’s got carbonation but it’s healthier than soda and doesn’t have as much sugar, which means a better cure for dry mouth!

Remember in grade school, there used to be that zebra gum with the tacky tattoos on the wrapper? Well they still sell that and it works great to get rid of cotton mouth! Of course, you’re limited to chewing it for about five minutes. The flavor doesn’t last long but in the five minutes that you chew it, your cotton mouth will vanish!

I mentioned ice cream up there didn’t I? Well it’s true! Eating some ice cream will eliminate your desire for munchies AND get rid of the sandy feeling in your mouth! I mean come on. You can’t tell me that eating a whole thing of Rocky Road when you’re baking doesn’t sound like the best idea on a day off from work.

What NOT to drink when you have cotton mouth? Stay away from things like coffee and milk. Those two in particular seem to hinder the fixing of dry mouth. You don’t want to be drinking things that are going to make your problem worse. Another favorite of mine is Redbull. The first sip you take of an ice cold Redbull is awesome, especially when you’re stoned! Everyone has their own ways to combat cotton mouth! What’s your favorite cure?

Stoner Guide; Cannabis Vs Spice

Stoner Guide; Cannabis Vs Spice

By now, the majority of stoners have heard of the epidemic called “spice”. It goes by many names; K2, spice, incense, etc. It’s marketed as something that you burn to put ambiance in a room but that’s definitely not what consumers are using it for. Instead of using the product as it’s “intended”, people everywhere are smoking this stuff in place of the more natural cannabis plant. The spice is said to be the best synthetic cannabis option, for people that want to get stoned but perhaps are on probation or for those that have jobs that drug test. Unfortunately for the user, spice is extremely bad for a person’s health. This substance turns people in to very nasty individuals and even the person who first created spice does not approve what it’s become.

While cannabis is a naturally forming part of the world, this spice substance is incredibly unstable. The product was inspected by scientists who claimed that the ingredients list and what was in the product were different. In fact, most of the ingredients listed weren’t present in the substance. It was concluded that the spice might as well just be lawn clippings sprayed with a cannabinoid rip off chemical, who’s effects on the human body are truly unknown. However, the spice has been linked to robberies of any shop that sells it, as well as arrests and possibly even deaths.

Cannabis, on the other hand, is a plant that not only needs no human interaction to grow, but has proven medical qualities. The cannabis plant continues to present new uses for us as we study it more. There is no other plant that we know of that can help with as many issues as cannabis can. Unfortunately, there is no substitution for cannabis. Even the synthetic cannabis that they have tried to develop have failed. It’s an extreme disappointment that cannabis isn’t being utilized to it’s full potential because it’s illegal.

The bottom line? That spice stuff is nasty. It should never be placed anywhere near a bowl, let alone smoked in one. This product is already illegal in some states. Rightfully so, as it’s effects on people is – no joke – a very striking resemblance of the deterioration of a meth user. Spice and cannabis aren’t even in the same league. While one is very harmful and the other helps. Please, don’t indulge in smoking spice. Take their straw shield of “not for human consumption” seriously.

Stoner Guide; Top Five Indica Strains

Stoner Guide; Top Five Indica Strains

With two completely different highs, stoners always have a preference of whether they like to primarily smoke indica or sativa cannabis. Of course, there are hybrids but for most, it’s one or the other as a favorite. My personal favorite type of cannabis is the indica strains. They are heavy hitting and will keep you stoned for hours, which is the feeling that I like from cannabis. Indica strains also are great for patients that are in pain or those who suffer from severe anxiety. The following strains are the best indica strains out there as of right now. Of course, more will be developed as more growers get in to the game but these are the best of the best right now!

1. G-13

PineApple Express 013

This strain has long been spoken about for being extremely strong. It will keep you on the couch for the entire day if you’re not careful. But with a smell that resembles the great outdoors and a taste that’s close to fruit salad, the G-13 strain is incredibly for patients and recreational users alike.

2. Master Kush

Always a good choice, the Master Kush strain was first known to the general public as High Rise and was developed in one of the many taller buildings of the city of Amsterdam. This strain has legendary abilities to treat anxiety, depression, and those who are in pain. It’s a hybrid of the Hindu Kush and Skunk strains, giving it awesome genetics as well.

3. Purple Urkle

Purps in general always seem to be the hardest hitting indica strains, leaving the user feeling the effects long after the weed has worn off. Purple Urkle will legitimately knock you on your ass and is great for those who have trouble sleeping at night. Some smokers even report that the Purple Urkle strain is too strong and they don’t like it’s extremely heavy effects.

4. Northern Lights

This strain is great for those who are first getting in to growing, as it’s grow time is so short. It is a legendary strain and is a pure indica. It originated in Holland and is constantly used to create other hybrids since it’s genetics are so fine. Northern Lights has won more cannabis related awards then any other strain and deserves much respect from the stoner community.

5. Grandaddy Purp

Another one of the amazing purple strains, Grandaddy Purp is almost as popular as Purple Urkle. While it is an indica, it still provides the smoker with somewhat of an energetic buzz, letting you go about your day normally rather then getting stuck on the ccouch. This strain is great for those having issues sleeping, again, as the purple cannabis buds tends to have that extreme sleepy effect.

Stoner Guide; Top Five Indica Strains

Stoner Guide; Top Five Sativa Strains

Stoner Guide; Top Five Sativa Strains

Stonerdays has been over the benefits of the indica strains of cannabis, the heavy hitters that will leave you stuck on your couch for days at a time. But on the other hand, there are the sativa strains. This type of cannabis is extremely beneficial to those who are suffering from symptoms but need to go about their days normally, instead of spending their time zoning out and falling asleep. The sativa strains are motivating and extremely creative, making them a favorite among both patients and recreational users.

1. Sour Diesel

This strong smelling strain will giving you a dream like high but without the dream like state. While fighting symptoms like stress and anxiety and providing a very uplifting feeling, Sour Diesel is a highly valued strain among those who enjoy sativas.

2. Blue Dream

Even though this strain is a hybrid, there are a lot of sativa lovers that really favor these nugs! Since Blue Dream gives the user the body numbing feeling of an indica but the straight mindedness of a sativa, it is great for patients that need to manage pain and still go about their business.

3. Jack Herer

Being one of the most awarded strains around to this day, Jack Herer is named after a legend in the cannabis community, a man that was not only a marijuana activist but the author of the well loved book The Emperor Wears No Clothes. With a cerebral high that is sure to lighten your mood and get your creative mind working, you should definitely keep this strain in your medicine cabinet!

4. Maui Waui

One of the main 420 attractions of the tropical islands, Maui Waui is perfect for an uplifting day at the beach. It won’t over power you so don’t worry about getting panicky and the effects are pleasant for all smokers. The strain leaves users incredibly inspired and is highly recommended for the sativa lover!

5. Durban Poison

Named after the port in South Africa where it first came from, Durban Poison is an extremely uplifting strain that will leave you soaring! The effects are great for all smokers, medical or recreational. It is especially recommended for those with bipolar disorder.

Stoner Guide; Women And Weed

Stoner Guide; Women And Weed

Females have a very shadowed role in the cannabis community. A lot of the growers/extractors/glass artists are mostly male, leaving girls a little bit in the dust. Of course, one could argue that the social media pages run by girls who have thousands of followers are the women who headline the cannabis industry. However, with most of those pages only posting photos with extreme sexual content, it leaves some girls wondering where their place is in the cannabis industry and if it’s required to be risqué to get noticed.

Not true, my friends! The female gender is working hard to create a niche in the marijuana industry and more upper class, money making chicks are admitting that they’re smoking the ganja. Debbie Shwartz is 28 years old and is a reality-show production manager who recently left her home in New York to live in Los Angeles. She works fifteen hours a day to produce entertainment for the masses and what does she feel like doing when she’s done with work? Kicking back with a little Mary Jane. “I love to have a glass of wine now and then but going out and downing sugary cocktails isn’t fun for me. And drinking is so much more expensive,” she said in an interview with Marie Claire. “I’ll go to the gym for an hour [after work], then come home and smoke a joint while I listen to jazz and read a book.”

Marijuana protestors used the argument that weed made women promiscuous back when the plant first became so hated. For some women, this idea still remains because it’s been ingrained in their minds for so long. Not only that but parents enforce the anti-female-smoker as well, sometimes even going as far as to say that “munchies will make you fat if you smoke”. Unfortunately for them, it’s food that makes you fat and lacking self control to stop eating has absolutely nothing to do with cannabis, as most already know. Another sad stereotype that seems to fester in the female marijuana community is the idea of solitary behavior. This comes from comparing weed and alcohol. While booze promotes a “happy”, social environment, weed tends to make people more contemplative and thoughtful, leading some to believe the plant contains anti-social qualities. Gina Bridges, a grants administrator in Seattle, throws that myth right out the door by hosting small dinner parties with her husband and close friends, with dessert being a bong full of delicious fruity weed.

Females need to realize that the silly stereotypes associated with their gender and pot really aren’t true. Marijuana helps with many problems that women face, including PMS. According to High Times Magazine, PMS is actually the decrease production of cannabinoids in the female body, leading to the well known mood swings and emotional issues that females face during their menstrual cycle. It’s very important that the females of the cannabis community voice their opinions about their positive feelings towards marijuana in a well thought out way, so that other women will begin to feel the same. By using words to support cannabis, rather then using racy photos to promote who knows what, other women won’t feel as pressured or embarrassed to involve themselves in the community.

Beer and cannabis are constantly being compared. While most stoners would prefer a bong to a beer, there are still some people who do enjoy the occasional (or multiple) cocktail to unwind after a long day! And in the US, there are plenty of holidays that are celebrated that seem to have evolved to be solely about drinking multiple drinks in a very short amount of time. St. Patrick’s Day has turned in to one of these holidays, where people get crazy drunk. While celebrating definitely isn’t a bad thing, there are just some stoners who don’t like alcohol. But since both substances involve plants (cannabis just being a plant and beer containing hops), the two are actually more similar then people think.

Cannabis Sativa and Humulus Lupulus both share similar properties, such as taste and smell but this isn’t enough to declare that the plants are actually related. There are many plants that produce similar smells but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re related. The smells are created are known as terpenes and terpenoid compounds. Terpenes are organic compounds that are synthesized by cells. They state with a singular base molecule called isoprene. The isoprene builds up, creating terpenes. In hops, there are a couple main compounds that appear such as myrcene, betapinene, and alpha-humulene, which are similar to the terpenes that give cannabis plants their telltale smell. Apologies for all of the confusing science speak; the genes of plants is an extremely difficult field of study and the information available basically all looks and reads like this!

The two plants have been grouped together in the same family, while at the same time being at opposite ends of the plant spectrum. But the two definitely do share similarities, whether potheads want to admit it or not. There are even ways to combine beer and weed (in the same drink) if you know how to brew your own beer (the process is quite complicated so be sure to do your research before starting this venture). There are breweries out there that are based completely on making marijuana beer as well, so if you’re interested in attempting to purchase some, it’s surely to be available in the legal states soon!

St. Patrick’s Day is a day that has become famous for the drinking antics that take place during that day/night. For stoners who don’t share the passion of drinking, you can instead hang out with some good friends, make some green food (ahhh food coloring!), and just get stoned. And if you do decide that going out is the choice for you, please remember to BE SAFE! If you plan on drinking, get one of your sober friends to drive you around. Make sure to either tip them with some buds or cash as well, for putting up with your drunk self and remember that cannabis and beer may be far more close then you think! Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Once you’ve correctly learned how to judge the different strains of cannabis, there are different catagories that the strains fall in to. Stoners everywhere have different terms for these categories but the basic idea is all the same. The following gives you the definition, in order of their quality. Because these terms differ in different geographical locations, the terms may be different from what you are familiar with.

– Strains
These are the highest quality buds. Always labeled with the correct name, most often tested for their THC potency, the strains are the most sought after bud. Everyone likes something that they can put a name to. Strains also give you the best photography results and make the best nugs to stick in front of the camera.

– Headies
While still maintaining a high level of quality, headies may not always have a title and therefore, the origins are unknown. Therefore they don’t exactly fall in to the strain category. But they’re still good enough to be considered top cannabis to be smoked!

– Piff
This is a term that I myself am unfamiliar with but it refers to cannabis that is of a decent quality. While it’s definitely nameless and may even contains some seeds and some larger then desired stems. But even though it’s not the best, it’s still going to get you high without you having to smoke the entire jar.

– Beasters
While similar in quality to the previously mentioned piff, beasters are a somewhat smokeable substance. It does contain a higher amount of stems and seeds, providing you with a chore when trying to smoke any of it. Even still, this product is still smokeable although if this is the kind of bud that your weed man is handing out, you should probably find someone new to get it from.

– Mids
Giving the smoker a somewhat lazy/boring/not so awesome high, the mids have absolutely no name and not the best quality. With an abundance of seeds and stems, mids are what you smoke when there’s no other option. While sometimes they still look alright, mids can be extremely sour tasting and leave you struggling to breathe after you cough your lungs out.

– Shwag
The worst of the worst. Get a bag of shwag and immediately just make edibles or some sort of concentrate. Most of the time, shwag is a nasty brown color that smokes like dirt. It’s full of the undesired seeds and stems and will probably only get you stoned for a few hours. Definitely nothing to write home about but as said before, rather then throw a fit, make a batch of brownies or some wax and thank your lucky stars that you at least have some THC.

– Shake
Depending on where the weed came from and the quality of it, shake can vary from extremely high quality to low. Some weed men sell their shake at the end and sometimes, it can be pretty decent. While most people do prefer the nugs, shake can be good in a pinch or made in to a concentrate or edibles. And since shake tends to be stronger then shwag, this is definitely what you’d rather be using!

There is a lot of influence to be held by those in the media spotlight. For some reason, it seems as if they are above the laws. They can sing about cannabis and how much they smoke it, or about the crack cocaine that they sell. And when they occasionally do get in trouble, it’s usually a slap on the wrist. Even though these people know that they’re in the spotlight, they can definitely bring a large amount of harm to the cannabis movement. When paying attention to the media, it’s key to recognize who is harmful to the cause and who can bring positive light to our friend Mary Jane.

Celebs such as Wiz definitely do bring positive enforcement to weed smoking. While he does occasionally include the mention of alcohol and extreme partying, this particular celebrity has definitely made a positive impact on the cannabis movement, along with others such as Kid Cudi. They sing about what positive effects marijuana has had on them, such as the relaxing effects as well as the community aspect of cannabis bringing friends together when they smoke. Music related celebs have a huge impact on the stoner community, which is a commonly known fact as stoners are most often associated with music.

On the downside, celebrities can bring extremely negative attention to cannabis. Remember when Lady Gaga was interviewed about cannabis and claimed that she was definitely addicted to it? Wording like that is what effects stoners in a negative way. It’s good that cannabis is in the news but when such a negative word is used to describe marijuana use, and especially by a celebrity, it can really set the movement a step back. Lady Gaga wasn’t addicted to cannabis, she just couldn’t smoke and handle her shit. Miley Cyrus is another celeb that people think sheds a negative light on cannabis consumption. However, even though her antics are somewhat questionable, she has never used the word “addiction” and she does manage to bring attention to the cannabis movement.

Even though celebrities can be pretty stupid and their actions extremely quirky, it’s up to us to differentiate who’s a negative influence and who’s a positive. It’s important to pay attention to what they say about cannabis, as compared to just judging them based on what they’re wearing or doing while they’re on stage. Even though some celebrities may act like they don’t give a shit and have no idea what’s going on, they have a huge influence on the masses. If they do speak up about the benefits of cannabis, there stands a strong chance that people will listen to what they have to say.

Stoner Guide; How To Judge Weed

Stoner Guide; How To Judge Weed

People judge cannabis all the time. It’s important to a lot of patients to have the strongest strains and the most potent medicine and for stoners? Well stoners just really want to get super high. Since there are so many different strains of bud out there (not to mention every strain differs from grower to grower), it’s hard to judge whether or not buds are good. And face it, you cannot judge buds based on just an Instagram photo. Educated stoners know how to properly judge a strain of weed and it involves a lot more then squinting at a tiny phone screen at what may or may not be dank bud. There are four main things that need to be taken in to consideration when judging a strain of marijuana. By following these steps, at least you can make an educated judgement of someone’s strain, rather then sounding like a jerk who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

The taste of a strain is very important. If it’s too earthy, it can taste like dirt and if it’s too fruity, it can taste faked. The best strains are flavorful to just the right level and don’t overwhelm your taste buds. Cannabis is also not supposed to taste like lawn trimmings.

Usually, this one is a good indication of how well the weed will smoke. However, there are ugly buds that smoke like the finest kush and there are gorgeous buds that smoke like trim. It depends on the grower’s skill and love when nurturing the plants in their early stages, as well as flowering. Cannabis should be in bud form (it’s good to be suspicious of bags of shake, at least until the spice crisis subsides), with a spattering of orange or red hairs. The buds themselves can vary in color from deep green to purple and tend to have a blanket of beautiful white trichomes throughout.

Dense nugs tend to look like a lot less when weighed but usually, the denser, the danker. However, be on the lookout for mold, as danker bud can be harder to cure and can remain moist in the centers for much longer then normal. Fluffy nugs are exceptional for photography reasons. Most stoners prefer an average between dense and fluffy, although everyone has their separate preference.

If you can’t smoke it, you can’t judge it. This is the ultimate test. Nothing else about cannabis matters more then the high that it gives you. Does it alleviate your symptoms? How long does the medicine effect you for? Does it lock you to the couch or does it allow you to get your work done while still feeling normal? All of these questions are extremely important when trying a strain for the first time.

If you can’t complete any one of the above mentioned methods, you simply cannot judge the cannabis. It’s important to remember the many factors that go in to cannabis growth, harvest, and trim. Not to mention that transportation also effects the quality of weed as well, sometimes knocking large amount of trichomes off or something crushing a fluffy bud to a dense bud. By following these steps, you can definitely judge strains more accurately, as compared to just viewing them on a digital screen.

Stoner Guide; Pesticide Dangers

Stoner Guide; Pesticide Dangers

As with any vegetative matter than can be consumed, there are growers that utilize pesticides to help prevent their crops from getting over taken by bugs. An action like this is understandable, as insects can destroy entire crops of marijuana. From eating the fan leaves to destroying the roots, bugs are a growers worst nightmare. But are pesticides really the answer? And are they posing a potential hazard for patients?

With fruits and vegetables, not only can they be washed prior to eating but the acid of the stomach dissolves a lot of the leftover chemicals that may be stuck to the food. When inhaling, there is no safety net. If there is a harmful chemical in the smoke that you’re inhaling, it will be absorbed directly in to the lungs when transferred from the bud to the smoke. Jeffery Raber, the owner of The Werc Shop, a lab dedicated to studying and testing medical marijuana, says that up to 70 of pesticides found on a marijuana bud can be inhaled to the lungs. This lab has been testing marijuana samples from dispensaries and patients in the Los Angeles area and what they have found is frightening. In the study that Raber’s lab performed, 35% of marijuana tested failed for pesticides.

Considering that ingesting marijuana is supposed to be healthy, growers attempting to maximize their harvest will resort to using more harmful ways of keeping bugs off of their plants. There are better ways, more natural ways to keep away unwanted visitors. Neem oil for one seems to be quite popular among growers on forums. What the oil does is create a waxy coating around the leaves and stem of the plants. The bugs can’t get to the leaves and can’t eat so they will eventually die off. Another method is to make a tea of worm castings and spray it over the plant. Allegedly, this will keep away bugs and let you fertilize the plant at the same time. For a third method, there is always getting other insects to do the work for you. The best friend of a marijuana grower is a ladybug, after all!

Keeping plants safe from bug attacks is important but should be done with the patient in mind. Giving sick people pesticide covered medicine isn’t going to help anyone and will potentially make the sickness worse. Using organic, safe ways to keep bugs away may be a lot more work and require some research but the cannabis community is supposed to be about helping us. Greedy growers that only see the money and not the people they’re supposed to be helping will only hinder the good that others are doing. Please, if you are a grower, for the sake of patients, use safe methods to keep pests away!

Stoner Guide; Poppers

Stoner Guide; Poppers

In the states, a spliff is a joint that is rolled with both tobacco as well as marijuana. It’s a somewhat popular practice, although there are stoners that think that this is an insult to weed and the two should never be mixed. There are those that do enjoy the combination of weed and tobacco. But when mixing the two extends to bongs, I can’t say for sure how I feel about it. Anyone who appreciates individual strains will agree; permeating marijuana with tobacco is not an appealing idea.

File photo of a customer rolling a joint made of half marijuana and half tobacco to smoke inside of Frankie Sports Bar and Grill in Olympia

Most glass is sold under the idea that it will be used for tobacco use. Obviously, this isn’t what they’re made for. They’re made for smoking weed. If you want to smoke tobacco, you can buy a pack of cigarettes, right? Some people are mixing tobacco and marijuana in their bongs. This trend goes under the name poppers, although there is some argument over what actually qualifies as a popper. It’s another “spliff” spliff situation, in which the term depends the geographical location. There was another process that was called “poppers” that said to empty out the tip of a cigarette, fill it with bud, then inhale slowly through the weed and then quickly through the tobacco. This supposedly gives the user a super head high, although I would assume that that comes from the overload of nicotine and lack of oxygen to the brain.

Mixing substances like tobacco and cannabis isn’t necessarily a bad thing and does relax some people. The problem is that tobacco is addicting, especially if you’re using cigarettes. Not only that but mixing tobacco with cannabis will ruin the taste of the weed and if you’re a weed snob, that is intolerable! You also run a higher chance of becoming addicted to cigarettes, a habit that a lot of stoners these days are quitting. The stoners of today are becoming much more health conscious and are paying attention to what they put in to their bodies. This includes turning down tobacco and smoking marijuana instead.

Stoner Guide; The Importance Of Decarb

Stoner Guide; The Importance Of Decarb

Making edibles and extracts is a great way for patients who can’t smoke to medicate. Ingesting cannabis also has a better effect on pain problems in the body, much like Tylenol and Aspirin. Taking cannabis in one of these forms lets your lungs take a break and you avoid inhaling any chemicals that marijuana gathers when it is is smoked. What people don’t realize is that you shouldn’t just be throwing bud in to a recipe and cooking away… You’re not getting the full potential of the cannabis in your food.

decarb plants stonerdays

THC is the active ingredient in marijuana that makes you get high. This substance, however, is not present in the cannabis plant. Instead, it is THCA, a form of THC but as an acid. In order to get the THC to activate when the plant is in flower form, heat must be added. We don’t realize that this process takes place when we smoke or vape our weed because the heat is obviously added, either by a lighter or a heating mechanism.

By just grinding up regular bud and throwing it in the pot, there’s a process called decarboxylation. This is where the CO2 in the marijuana is released, changing the THCA in to THC. When making products such as oil and tincture, this step in extremely important. If you don’t decarb the bud before fusing it with the fat and sugars in the tinc/oil, you’re missing out on quality THC. If you’re making food rather than an extract, make sure that there is heat added to the marijuana somewhere in the steps of the recipe. If there is no heat, it’s smart to decarb the weed before you begin cooking.

There are many different suggestions online of how to decarb properly. The best one that I was able to find had lab results from the weed that had been decarboxylated and it showed the increase of THC from the raw flower to the weed that was used in the recipe. By going through this process, your end result will be stronger and more potent, as compared to ending up with something not so strong.

Here’s a link to the decarb process that I use when making cannabis tincture. I hope that it works as well for you as it does for me!

Stoner Guide; Kief Vs Hash

Well… The title may be a bit deceiving because when it comes to it, there is no debate. After asking the stoners of Instagram, the answer is quite clear. Hash is definitely the more popular choice. While both substances come from marijuana, they are two really different ways to smoke… Or you can combine them and have the heaviest hitting bowl you’ve ever smoked!

sourdiesel hash stonerdays

Hash, for those that don’t know, is the pressed version of trichomes. Since the trichomes are the resin glands and contain a bunch of THC, has is highly sought after. Depending on who’s making it and in what fashion, hash can be hard or a paste-like substance, usually referred to as bubble hash melt. Depending on the different kinds of marijuana used to make hash, it varies in potency, color, and smell. Recently, I smoked hash that smelled like cookie dough. It was extremely difficult not to eat it.

Kief is pretty much the before product of hash. It’s that awesome yellowish powder that falls to the bottom of your grinder and gets you stoned as hell. There’s no effort in getting a hold of kief, which makes it more obtainable than hash. Since kief just comes off of the weed when it’s being ground up, you can just scrape some off in to your bowl before smoking for an added high. This substance is what makes up hash but you need a lot of it, from the same strain, and you need to possess the ability to turn kief in to quality hash.

kief stonerdays

Since hash is slightly more potent than kief because there’s so much of it pressed together, it seems that hash is the most popular choice. It’s difficult to get a hold of but definitely worth the wait until you can find some good stuff. Hash has an extremely earthy taste and scent, almost like smoking resin (which makes sense since trichomes are resin glands) but a bit more cleaner. Seriously, the best way to describe it is earthy. Kief is something that rips up your lungs, especially when you’re not expecting it. If you’re packing kief bowls, be prepared to cough!

Most stoners prefer to smoke hash. Some may argue that people like it because it’s so rare. It also burns longer than kief, making it a better investment for those who get high over an extended period of time. Whatever it is that you’re smoking, make sure it’s quality! Stay blazed, everyone!

ISO Extracts

ISO Extracts – Stoner Guide

Making extracts with isopropyl alcohol is another safe way (along with ice) to obtain highly concentrated extracts from cannabis. While BHO still seems to be most popular, this method is slowly gaining attention as BHO continues to be proven to be extremely unsafe. However, as always, extracts should be made outside. Alcohol is still flammable, though not as much as butane fuel. You should always be taking the proper safety precautions when making extracts.

iso hash stonerdays 1

What You’ll Need;
Permanent coffee filter
Corning ware plate
Razor blade scraper
Mason jar
14 grams of good quality trim
70% ISO alcohol
Paper coffee filter

Place the trim inside the mason jar and cover it with the alcohol. Place the lid back on the jar and shake it vigorously for no more than two minutes. This is very important. Shaking the container longer than two minutes will cause too much chlorophyll and plant substance to be pulled into the ISO mixture. This will lower the potency so be sure to keep it under two minutes. After you’ve shaken it, strain it through the paper coffee filter into the plate. You can throw away the plant matter at this point.

Set the plate on top of the pot of boiling water. The steam will warm the plate while preventing the THC from dissipating. The alcohol will evaporate, leaving behind the golden concentrate that is so sought after. This recipe seemed to have good results but everyone has a different method. As always, please be safe. Do you think that you have a better method? I want to know about it! Send me an email at [email protected] and tell me how you make your extracts!

Stoner Guide; White Ash

I don’t remember who told me this but I do know that it was left in a comment on my Instagram a while ago. I don’t remember what photo it was but I very vividly remember someone saying that if the ash in your bowl is black and messy, then the weed isn’t good. I’ve since wondered if this was true and figured that I’d answer it for everyone if there happens to be other people out there wondering. The answer is yes, the color of the ash matters. It doesn’t really mean that the weed is terrible but it does almost always mean that the plants were grown via hydroponics and they unfortunately weren’t flushed properly before harvest. It’s super hard to find information about this subject. Either people don’t care or there just isn’t a huge push to know if your kicked bowls are okay or not.

white ash stonerdays

Basically, pay attention to how hard your weed is to light. While buds can be cured correctly, that doesn’t mean that it’s been flushed of the nutrients that are using in the growing process specific to hydro. Phosphorus is extremely beneficial in the bloom process to produce bigger flowers. However, phosphorus is the culprit when your bud is hard to light and harsh. When you smoke, it shouldn’t feel like you’re taking a shot of Bacardi 151. This is also the reason that you’re getting an ugly mass of black ash in your bowl. The ash of smoked pot should be white and fluffy. Joints that always tend to go out are also a sign of high levels of phosphorus still left in the buds.

These chemically unbalanced buds are also not so great for your health. Unfortunately, that contradicts the whole idea of medical marijuana. If you’re smoking for health, you should be smoking something that is doing more good than harm. Properly flushed buds are better for the overall value of the pot, definitely the quality, and it will create a bigger benefit from smoking. The grow process is so important to the patients. It doesn’t help them if the weed they’re smoking isn’t at it’s full potential.

white ash - plat green crack

I’m sure that most growers these days have enough knowledge collected that they are flushing their plants of harmful chemicals before selling it, especially to medical patients. I must admit that I still see weed that burns badly, crackles, and burns the lungs like acid. Growing these plants definitely takes a lot of patience and skill. But stoners everywhere should be able to get the best grass that they can and they definitely deserve to know if their bud is inadequate for their medical needs.

Stoner Guide; Cannabis Doesn’t Stop At Smoking

Stoner Guide; Cannabis Doesn’t Stop At Smoking

As people who smoke and utilize cannabis, us stoners project an outward idea that we are all about the healthy life. The fact is, most of us are! There are a lot of stoners that are vegetarian, vegan, or don’t really eat solid foods at all. Not only that but there are new studies being published that juicing cannabis leaves has internal health benefits for the function and well being of your body. By claiming that our plant cures many diseases and illnesses, we also make ourselves responsible for promoting a wholly healthy lifestyle. Since a lot of us are subject to situations where complete healthy living is extremely difficult or impossible, the easiest way to stay healthy is to change what you eat.

These days, what our food contains is a constant worry to most consumers who can think outside the box. Fast food isn’t real food and eating most things will make you sick. Meat in supermarkets has gone bad kills more people a year than marijuana. Seriously, that’s insane. E-coli and salmonella lurk behind every package of beef on the shelves. Avoiding this problem is quite simple. By not eating the meat and processed garbage that is sold in stores, get on that liquid fruit and veggie diet.

Juicing is a newly mainstreamed idea of only ingesting fruits and vegetables in place of solid meals. By grinding up the food in a juicer before drinking it, it makes it easier for your body to absorb nutrients from the food. Seeds contain the most vitamins that are essential to healthy living and the juicer breaks the seeds up, sending the nutrients directly in to your stomach you drink the mixture. By making the fruit and veggies in to a liquid, your body gets what it needs faster. This juicing diet will make you feel physically better and more mentally alert. When first starting out, however, it is recommended that you get some healthy snacks or protein bars that you can munch on in between juice shakes. You will get hungry when you start out with this, trust me.

Not only can you juice fruits and vegetables but cannabis leaves and hemp seeds are a great source of nutrition for your body. As stated above, the breaking up of seeds in the juicer allow your stomach to easily absorb what’s contained in that tough shell. Since THC is in an acid form when it is in the leaves, it doesn’t contain the psychoactive chemical that gets you stoned. Not only that, but it is said by William Courtney, a physician based in Mendocino County, that the plants terpenes (the part of the plant that creates the smell) have an effect on overall attitude and mood of the person ingesting the raw cannabis. Drinking raw cannabis will not get you stoned but your body will thank you. The buds of the plant can also be juiced but must be harvested when the trichomes are not yet fully amber, but a cloudy color.

By choosing to juice with cannabis, it not only can help with illnesses such as cancer but it should be a staple in your daily diet just to assist with your daily function. Store your stock of raw cannabis leaves in the refrigerator before you slice them up and make sure to soak them in water for about 5-10 minutes before putting them in your juicer. Allowing the leaves to soak makes them easily ground up. You can also add juiced cannabis to your daily juicing diet. Think of drinking cannabis as taking a daily vitamin. It’s just necessary.

While juicing continues to make a surge in popularity, we should be pushing for the welcomed use of juiced cannabis leaves. Since the psychoactive component is gone, one could argue that juiced cannabis would be okay for children, pets, and adults of all ages. By assisting in bodily functions, as well as preventing symptoms such as nausea. This idea of raw cannabis is still fairly new and is not recommended for all patients, more specifically those with kidney or gall bladder issues.

Health should be one of the main focuses of the marijuana movement outside of the medical uses. If the human race can just BE healthy by ingesting this cannabis drink, then there would be less sick people in the first place. Preventing disease would be much easier than curing it. More people need to know about the raw cannabis juicing idea. There are thousands of people that ingest multivitamins every day so why not add a raw cannabis drink to that regimen? Stay healthy, fellow stoners!

Ten Stoner Life Hacks

Ten Stoner Life Hacks

Getting stoned easier, quicker is a fashion that stoners can always appreciate. Especially these days when everyone seems to be constantly on the go. We here at Stonerdays understand the need for simplicity in the smoking life and have compiled a list of ten hacks that we think stoners could use in their every day lives. Have your own hacks? Submit them via email to [email protected] for round two!

1. Black construction paper can serve as a great barrier between your weed and light. Wrapping a piece of this paper around you jar of bud will keep your weed fresher for longer, since the light can’t get in and dry it out.

2. Finding yourself without a grinder? If you’re really that intent on getting some ground up bud, take a penny (clean it well with rubbing alcohol!) and a pill bottle. Add the penny and the bud to the bottle and close it. Shake vigorously and open to find that your weed has been ground up.

3. Getting stoned before brushing your teeth almost guarantees that you’ll brush them for the recommended two full minutes. You’ll be too high, messing with random stuff around your bathroom to notice that you’ve actually been following your dentists orders.

4. Eat mangoes, not oranges. It’s been found that mango is the fruit that you want to be eating to prolong your high. Oranges are good for other things in relation to smoking, such as moistening weed that has unfortunately been dried out.

5. Got the munchies? Putting a mint in your mouth or chewing gum can curb your crazy munchies without adding tons of weight to the scale. It’s best to get the most stoned around mealtimes, preventing yourself from unnecessary eating.

6. Want to smoke a fuzzy joint but don’t happen to have any wax available to get the keif to stick? By using a very thin coating of honey, you can get keif to stick to the joint or the blunt. Be very careful not to use too much or you will not only ruin the paper but the joint/blunt won’t smoke very well.

7. Storing wax and shatter for short periods of time in rolling papers is not only convenient but will give you a flavorful THC tinged paper for a later joint that you feel like smoking. This is only recommended for short periods of time and definitely not for transport, as the paper ripping can ruin your wax if your not careful!

8. Always keep bobby pins on hand. No matter what. You should always have one of these little tools on your person because from poking in the ends of a joint to gently cleaning out bowls, this little piece of metal is a seriously beneficial stoner tool that not many people take as seriously as they should!

9. Have a lot of hard floors in your house or apartment? Worried that your bong is going to break one of these days if a dumb friend accidentally hits the ground the wrong way while putting your beloved piece down? A mouse pad serves as an amazing spot to put a bong down when it’s not being used.

10. Ashtrays make quite a mess sometimes. Go to Goodwill or another thrift store of sorts and grab yourself a cheap jar. Empty your ashes in to this and close it tight. Your ashes are now easier to store, won’t smell, and won’t make a mess!

Ten Stoner Life Hacks

Stoner Guide; Clear Papers

Stoner Guide; Clear Papers

There are so many different kinds of rolling paper that stoners can smoke these days. Some, like Shine Rolling Papers, catch the eye of easily amused stoners quite well. Printed with cool designs (or made of 24 karat gold leaf), rolling papers are a staple to any stoner’s smoking collection, even if they prefer glass instead. There are some stoners who aren’t familiar with all of the kinds of papers, including the very strange clear papers, which usually come in a cone form. These papers are see through and allow the stoner to see inside their joint as they smoke.

clear papers

Clear papers look pretty cool but there are some smokers that believe they may be hazardous to your health. The papers are reportedly made with cellulose, a chemical that can be dangerous when burned. This produces a heavier, thicker smoke then normal and it is believed to be unhealthy. However, the dangers of smoking clear rolling papers is supposedly comparable to drinking diet soda (although I’ve heard that stuff is extremely poisonous). Smoking these papers can be considered by some to be uncomfortable, as smoking what appears to be melting plastic can sometimes be unsettling for stoners.

Even though the clear papers seem to be made of some sort of plastic, they’re actually made from wood pulp. Companies Aleda and Smokeclear are both companies that produce these clear papers and state that their papers are 80% plant cellulose, 14% glycerine, and 6% water. Stoners worry most about burning the glycerine. This substance, however, only releases toxic acrolein fumes between 392-572 degrees F. While joints burn at a temperature that may register in a dangerous zone, it should be known that this acrolein fume is also released when trees burn, oil, and multiple other substances that get lit on fire every day. So it’s slightly unclear about any severe negative effects other then runny nose, itchy eyes, and possible headache.

It seems to be unanimous among forum stoners that rice papers would be the healthiest choice if you’re going to roll. Raw was the brand name that was mentioned the most, as they are a company that prides themselves in having pure natural papers. As stoners are always looking for a healthier way to smoke, it’s definitely important to research certain papers before giving them a shot. Clear papers should only be smoked on occasion and it’s recommended that you stick to more natural rolling papers on the regular or a glass piece with a piece of some hempwick for the ultimate healthy experience.

Stoner Guide; Five Dank Songs To Smoke With

There’s so many different kinds of artists out there that are making music so it’s extremely difficult to make a list because there’s always someone who wants their favorite smoking song included. While I can’t include everyone, I’ve tried to make this short list pretty diverse. As always, I love suggestions and if you think you have an awesome smoking song, I would love to know what it is! Submit to [email protected] if you have any suggestions for another five stoner songs. I hope that you enjoy these five that I’ve picked!

1. Yelawolf “Marijuana”

Definitely an awesome song to roll one up to! This song has some good lyrics, plus awesome beats so you can either turn it up really loud while cruising around or you can have it on in the background while you and your friends enjoy a smoke session. Highly recommended that you listen to it if you haven’t heard it yet.

2. Michael Franti “Ganja Babe”

I first heard this song when I was in college and I’ve never forgotton about it. It’s super chill, calm, and just an all around awesome pothead song. He sings about how much he loves Mary Jane and let’s face it, we really love this plant! The song also features Spearhead.

3. Afro Man “Because I Got High”

Another song that’s stuck with me for a long time. I remember hearing this on the school bus and the bus driver would turn it down because of how “inappropriate” it was. The song does promote the classic forgetful stoner stereotype but you can’t resist the hilarity of it. If you haven’t yet heard this song, you’re living under a rock.

4. Cypress Hill “Hits From The Bong”

Classic stoner jam right here. You can’t help but smile when this song comes on. Whether it makes you want to dance or smoke some more, everyone loves this Cypress Hill masterpiece. Hits From The Bong has been on the stoner playlist since mixtapes were still being made by holding play and record at the same time.

5. Sublime “Smoke Two Joints”

You’ll see this song quoted at least once on every stoner social media page ever. It’s an amazing song that describes a lot of stoners… Smoking two joints and then proceeding to smoke two more… And then probably two more. We all know that one hit just isn’t worth it and if you’re going to smoke, you should probably just smoke a ton.

Stoner Guide; Same Strain, Different Colors?

Stoner Guide; Same Strain, Different Colors?

Knowing your strains these days is extremely difficult. There are so many different kinds of bud out there, it’s hard to believe that anyone could pinpoint what a bud is just from a photo of it. Even the most experience grower should be weary of viewing different kinds of cannabis. Since every grow has varied conditions, every strain can come out looking completely different. A lot of times, stoners will also include the breeder’s name when they say the strain, since every grower has a different idea of what certain strains should look like.

Climate greatly effects the look of the bud when it’s cured and ready to be smoked. Colder climates bring out the purple genetics in the purp strains, while the warmer air will make the strains more green. This could result in a not-so-purple Granddaddy Purp, causing some frustration among those who believe they can tell a strain just from a photo. There re some growers that like to grow in the warmer climates, leaving their bud less purple and more of a dank green. The grow process greatly determines the outcome of the bud.

Since the grow process is so important, it can effect cannabis all over the country. An east coast strain of blue dream may be completely different then the strain developed on the west coast. A perfect example of a situation like this is the east coast’s NYC Sour Diesel pitched against the Sour Diesel. Stoners disagree greatly on the origin of these two strains, with some saying that they’re two completely different plants and others saying it’s the same strain with a different name. While the two strains are most likely different, with one being a higher sativa hybrid or indica hybrid, it again all depends on how they are grown, with the end result being at the hand of the grower.

Seeing strains in photographs doesn’t mean that someone automatically knows what it is. The only people who know what the strains are include the person who grew it, the person that the grower gave it to and possibly the person after that. Keeping correct strain names is like the game Telephone. By the time the message is heard by the fourth or fifth person, it’s been changed. These days, there are so many strains out there that for people that aren’t high up in the supply chain, strain names aren’t that useful.

Stoner Guide; More Types Of Stoners

Stoner Guide; More Types Of Stoners

The types of stoners seems to be popular, mostly because people seem to enjoy knowing what kind of stoner category they fall in to. Stonerdays has already gone over twenty different kinds of stoners. But thanks to the help of a stoner friend of mine, we managed to come up with an additional ten types of stoner! With thirty different stoner groups, you’re sure to find your niche!

1. The Parent Stoner

These days, it’s more common to find parents who smoke then ever before. The parent stoner has it rough because not only do they have to be somewhat discreet about their smoking, they have a ton of shit to get done as well. Parenting is not easy and only the most successful stoners manage to smoke and balance children. The parent stoner is also responsible for teaching their child to use cannabis in a helpful, not harmful way.

2. Video Game Stoner

Call Of Duty? Halo? Little Big Planet? Anything with a controller? This stoner is pretty much down to play any game put in front of them, even Pong. They have ever system imaginable and collect video games like they’re going out of style. You know that they smoked a huge blunt and then stood in line for their PlayStation 4 on Black Friday last year. Their upside? They have an unbelievable knack for strategy, which can be good to have around if you have a possible law run in.

3. The Sketching Stoner

Creativity and marijuana go hand in hand. The sketching stoner is one that always seems to be doodling or drawing on something. Dinner napkins, business cards, whatever surface that can be drawn on around them is fair game. Since they smoke, these amazing doodlers always seem to create some awesome kind of end result that is deserving of a frame.

4. The Obnoxious Stoner

Oh this guy… Or girl, depending on your group of friends. Forget about gender, this person can be tough to deal with. They’re loud, in your face, and obnoxious. The complete opposite of what most stoners are, the obnoxious stoner is only good in small amounts, if at all. What makes it even worse is when the obnoxious stoner always has really good weed. Just think of it as a test of your patience when they text you asking to match and smoke.

5. The Boy Scout Stoner

boy scout stoner copy

If you’re in need of a campfire, a makeshift tent, or some sort of cooking pot, the Boy Scout stoner has you covered. They have an incredible outdoorsy skill set that allows them to survive in any crazy natural situation. Their idea of a fun weekend is not going out to the bars but getting baked and lost in the woods for a few days to see how long they can survive. A lot of times, these stoners are also Mcguyvers and can make pretty much anything out of nothing.

6. The Mystic Stoner

These smokers are more along the lines of the old school hippies but with a twist. They collect crystals and normally do a lot of yoga. They talk about chakras and positive energy. The mystic stoner is a beautiful asset to your life because not only do they seem to draw sunshine and smiles, they are full of information about the flow of positivity in the universe. These smokers are incredibly smart and are a great addition to your stoner circle of friends.

7. The Glass Artist Stoner

Glass blowing is not an easy task and those that manage to smoke and create amazing glass art should be very well respected. These stoners just didn’t think that paper and pencil would express their creativity so they turned to glass blowing instead. They can create amazing things with this material, both for smoking and just for show. Having a glass artist stoner around not only shows you what goes in to making your favorite piece but gives you a chance to hang out with an incredibly talented person.

8. The Sport Stoner

Football, soccer, basketball, hockey. They’ve got a jersey for every favorite team in every league. Not only that but they play ultimate frisbee and flag football on the weekends after toking up with their buddies. The sporty stoner is always thinking about some kind of game, constantly keeping themselves updated on the latest scores. While a slightly more loud and in-your-face kind of smoker, the sport stoner is much like the fit stoner with the idea that hanging out with them will lead to a healthier lifestyle.

9. The Educated Stoner

This person knows everything that there is to know about weed. If you have a question about how to make ice hash, this person knows. Don’t know what strain you need to smoke on for anxiety? Ask this friend. Seriously, the educated stoner is the biggest asset to your stoner circle. If you know someone like this, smoke with them. You’re bound to learn something from them, even though they can occasionally be somewhat abrasive.

10. The Lazy Stoner

Never leaving the couch seems okay to the lazy stoner. This kind of stoner doesn’t even want to move, let alone go to work and earn money. Much like the guy on the couch in Half Baked, these stoners don’t really seem to move that much and are more relatable to sloths rather then people. Although they don’t really ever want to move, the lazy stoners tend to be pretty funny and amusing. They definitely make a good addition to the stoner circle.

Stoner Guide; Painting And Smoking

Stoner Guide; Painting And Smoking

Stoners love to smoke a ton of weed and produce awesome art. Stoners that paint can create amazing images that everyone can enjoy. But why is painting so beneficial? It’s more then just creating pretty photos. Stoners have managed to acquire the master artist stereotype over the years and to this day can create some of the coolest looking art around, filling Tumblr and Instagram with awesome ideas. What benefit does this form of art cause in the human brain, especially enhanced with the help of cannabis.

PBS Remix-Happy Painter

Painting is very therapeutic. It has a very calming effect, making it very good for those who deal with anger or anxiety problems. Getting stoned and painting will chill you out and the longer you spend brushing paint over the canvas, the smaller the issues around you will seem, at least until you’re ready to calmly handle them. The process of painting a picture takes time and concentration, something that a lot of people these days need to work on. Painting regularly promotes patience, a valuable trait. By spending time painting an image, one can learn how to slow down and take the time to appreciate fine details. It’s also a good way to relax if you’ve had an especially frustrating day.

In addition to being a stress release, the world would be an insanely dull place without the presence of art. It seems that now more then ever, the popular art of today is being produced by those who enjoy smoking the reefer. Marijuana only assists a person’s already present creativity, allowing them to paint more freely. The colors are nicer, the ideas seem to flow easier. If you don’t enjoy getting high as hell and painting the cool images that you see in your head, you’re crazy. And if you haven’t tried smoking and painting, it’s definitely recommended that you pick up a paintbrush as well as your bong/bowl/blunt and give it a shot!

Stoner Guide; The Hemp Takeover

Stoner Guide; The Hemp Takeover

Forgetting the fact that cannabis has the potential to be a cure for cancer and that the plant has bettered the lives of thousands of people, cannabis can also produce hemp. For those of you that aren’t aware of what hemp is, it’s a material that is made from the cannabis plant that can be used to make basically anything from paper to houses. This product of the cannabis plant is extremely versatile, takes less water than corn and cotton, and takes up far less space for the same amount at harvest time. Hemp is far better suited for the world today than corn, cotton, fossil fuels, and hundreds of other substances that we use every day that are harmful to the environment.

Hemp does not contain high THC levels, the chemical in marijuana that makes the user high. Most people that have attempted to smoke hemp (not recommended that you try this) have experience extreme headaches, rather then the uplifting feeling you get from the flowers. Instead, the plant is extremely useful in every single product that we use today, including where we live, what we eat, and the vehicles we drive plus so much more. But since the hemp plant is related to cannabis, it is classified with it’s stoney relative as a Schedule 1 drug. This leaves the industrial market open to materials such as cotton, paper, and others that are not only expensive but bad for the environment as well.

Jan & hemp plants

Since the plant can produce far more material in a smaller space as compared to crops like cotton, it would seem logical to allow hemp farms. These farms could be completely vacant of psychoactive cannabis plants, only growing hemp. Of course there is a way for officials to test the plants, as they often do in Colorado to be sure that the plants don’t contain high enough amounts of THC to get someone high. This leaves hemp completely available to be used in all reaches of industrial society.

Forgetting the industrial aspects, hemp is an incredible health benefit to the human body. Whether ingesting the seeds or the leaves, it greatly improves bodily functions. The seeds are full of Omega-6 as well as Omega-3, both of which as essential fatty acids that promote heart health and also carry anti-inflammatory characteristics as well. These seeds can be added to smoothies, salads, yogurts, bread, and many other kitchen made goods. The leaves of the cannabis plant (either hemp or from the smokeable cousin) can be juiced and drank or added in to foods like burgers, salads, and sandwiches. And remember that all of these products will not make you high and will only benefit human health.

Stoner Guide; Two Sides To The Fight

Stoner Guide; Two Sides To The Fight

Cannabis is an extremely huge issue today in our society. We are at war over a plant, with some people claiming that it kills and that it’s a serious danger while others are studying, researching, and gathering information to prove that cannabis is an asset to the human race. The Stonerdays team is obviously for cannabis but we also recognize that acknowledging both parties is the only way to advance in this fight.

By recognizing what anti-cannabis protestors are saying about the plant, supporters are able to build stronger arguments. The information that is negatively said about cannabis needs to be taken in, thought about, researched, and only then can a cannabis supporter throw back a counter argument. If these steps are not taken, the cannabis community looks like everyone thinks – unintelligent. The stoner stereotype has been around for a long time and if members of the community decide to perpetuate the idea that we are fat, lazy, and stupid, then the cause will never advance.

Of course there are those that are against cannabis that lie just to make the plant seem more dangerous than it actually is. For example, the scary story that circulated the internet about the people who died on the first day of legal cannabis in Colorado. Many stoners believed this to be true but it turned out that the website that published the story was satirical and it wasn’t real. Even though the story was a fake, it is extremely important to know what people are saying about the plant that we love so much. If we don’t educate ourselves on the other side of the story, it’s completely impossible to fight back.

Being (and staying) up to date with all happenings related to cannabis, true or false, is incredibly important to this fight. Research everything you see to verify it’s factuality and don’t believe everything you read. And unfortunately for those stoners who are dead set on only knowing their side of the story are not helping the cause, but hindering it. Seeing as how society has already branded stoners as stupid, educating yourself is one of the main weapons we have against the war on cannabis.

Stoner Guide; Marijuana Deaths

Stoner Guide; Marijuana Deaths

Anti-pot protestors are constantly using “marijuana kills” as a slogan for their out of control (and usually wrong) arguments. But stoners don’t have to worry about getting stoned and dying because they shoot their own heads off with a shotgun or running over a child when leaving the fast food drive through. The downside is that it seems as if more people are trying to relay the message that marijuana does kill people, which it doesn’t. There are still no recorded overdoses, nor has it been proven that marijuana has been the sole reason for a human to act extremely different, causing harm to others.

Recently, I had the inevitable (and seriously unfortunate) introduction to a woman named Nancy Grace. As I watched her ridiculous news clips regarding marijuana, I couldn’t even bring myself to attempt to comprehend how people could listen to her. Not only does she state that smokers are “fat, lethargic, and lazy”, she says that people high on marijuana “shoot, stab, and strangle each other”. But unfortunately for this woman, reports just don’t back her up. Marijuana has been shown to have therapeutic effects on those struggling with anger problems, leading to decreases in violence. The plant has also been scientifically proven to combat cancer, as well as many other medically difficult-to-cure health problems.

In order to overdose on marijuana, you would have to smoke well over 1,500 pounds in a a shorter time than fifteen minutes, leading many people to accept the fact that you would die from oxygen deprivation before overdosing on THC. It’s pretty obvious to see that an overdose is actually impossible and that other things would effect your health before the cannabis had the chance to. Even concentrates need to be ingested in roughly the same amount to be lethal and even then, there is no solid evidence that an animal can ingest enough marijuana to cause death.

In short, weed cannot kill you. There is a possibility of allergic reaction but usually this situation will result in nausea, not death. The only other ways that marijuana may kill you is that you eat a bunch of it and choke on it, a good deal of marijuana may fall on you and crush you (this actually did occur to a poor man in Brazil), or I suppose that you could get the munchies hardcore and eat yourself to death, but that’s not that likely. Basically, marijuana won’t kill you. You’re more likely to get hit by a truck before you die from cannabis consumption. Regardless of what Nancy Grace or any other protestor claims, overdosing on marijuana is not a possible feat.

Stoner Guide; Working Out With Cannabis

Stoner Guide; Working Out With Cannabis

Athletics and marijuana go hand in hand for some people, while others not so much. But for those that like to toke and lift weights or run miles or whatever, there’s a couple of different ways to incorporate their cannabis use in to their workout. Here’s a few of the ways that the Stonerdays team likes to work out with cannabis!

We all know that juicing is extremely healthy and adding some fresh cannabis leaves to your every day smoothies can give your body a huge boost! The leaves contain no THC, so the smoothie won’t get you stoned but do contain the amazing chemical known as CBD, which is an antioxidant, cancer-preventing, anti inflammatory ingredient. Juicing cannabis can help your body to function much more normally as well as on a healthier level!

Medicating Before

Depending on the workout you’re doing, as well as the person doing it, medicating before starting your workout can create an extremely relaxing experience, especially if you’re doing something like yoga. The cannabis makes movement much more fluid and easy, while creating an in-tune feeling with your body as you move through the workout. Just be careful; medicating prior to working out can sometimes lead to couch lock and you won’t end up getting your workout done!

Medicating After

Mostly for those who do hard core stuff like intense weights lifting, running, and other more extreme forms of exercise, medicating after a workout is great way to relieve any pain sustained during the workout or just a good way to chill out afterwards! As always, remember that smoking can sometimes hinder a workout and eating or vaping cannabis is sometimes a better idea for athletes. Marijuana, as said above, contains anti-inflammatory agents that will relax you and make you comfortable.

It’s a good idea to choose a method of medicating that works for your workout or possibly just combine everything! You can also smoke during your workout if you’d prefer, although depending on what you’re doing that may not always work. Whatever you choose to do, always exercise safely and never overdo yourself. Cannabis is definitely something that those who enjoy working out can incorporate in to their daily routines.

Stoner Guide; Albinism In Cannabis

Stoner Guide; Albinism In Cannabis

Albinism is a genetic disorder which causes the afflicted to lack pigment in their appearance. So basically, the outer appearance will be washed out, lacking of the normal hair color, eye color, and skin color. Albinism comes with multiple problems for human sufferers, including the loss of eyesight and a higher risk of skin cancer as well as extreme sensitivity to light. Sometimes, it can even lead to immune deficiency and leave the afflicted far more susceptible to disease and infection. Sounds pretty shitty, right? This disorder effects all species, including plants. This includes our beloved Mary Jane, which can absolutely suffer from plant albinism, which effects the amount of chlorophyl that the foliage produces.

Plants need chlorophyl in order to photosynthesize, the process in which plants make their food. With photosynthesis, the plant will die within days of it sprouting from the seed. The seedling will use up all of it’s stored energy, causing a very quick death. Strangely enough, some plants manage to live through the rough first part of their lives. Since the disorder is genetic, it is possible for a normal green plant to sprout random white leaves and stalks, creating an unbelievably beautiful sight. These plants legitimately are half green and half white, including the buds that are harvested. Albano plants possess the same sensitivity to light that humans also suffer from and if found in the grow room, should be treated in two different ways.

Because the albino plant has weaker genetics, the buds produced are far less potent than their green/red/purple counterparts possess. Seeing as how most natural forms of albinism result in early death (forgetting the seedlings, albino deer do not last long in nature, as their lack of camouflage prevents them from being able to hide from predators. With a lower THC/CBD content, the white plants aren’t exactly what high yielding growers want in the grow room. Some stoners, however, say that the white buds smoke far more smoothly, due to the lack of chlorophyl in the flower when smoked.

There are others who say that the white color usually effects the top of the buds, closest to the light. Since the buds are so high, they begin to turn white since the light is bleaching the tops. Some growers do compare the white buds with the purple buds that come from the grow rooms with colder flowering temps. While the purple buds are normally of equal or better quality than the normal green, the white buds are an actual mutant, a genetic mess up. So while the two may be looked at the same due to their extreme coloring, the white is more of a hinderance while the purp is more sought after.

White marijuana plants are good for one thing really; aesthetics. The white flowers are definitely smokable and are sure to shock unsuspecting friends when you pull it out of your jar. The albinism can’t spread in the grow room so it’s not necessary to kill the plants immediately. However, as said before, the plant contains less of the desired quantities of THC and CBD, so the result of smoking it probably won’t make you incredibly baked but it’ll add a nice eye catcher to your garden! The most important thing to remember is that no matter what color the weed, don’t judge it if you’re not the one smoking it.

Stoner Guide; Cannabis and Yoga

Stoner Guide; Cannabis and Yoga

Stoners these days are doing all that they can to stay healthy. A lot are seeking out the enlightenment of yoga. It’s relaxing and extremely good for your body, giving results that are wanted by many. Smoking cannabis and yoga are two things that go together very well, for multiple reasons. The two compliment each other in such a way that people are even starting to incorporate smoking in to their daily yoga routine.

When you smoke cannabis, you feel relaxed. Same goes for yoga. By ingesting cannabis while doing this particular exercise, people reach the ultimate level of relaxation. Cannabis also helps the user focus on their movement, making sure that every pose is perfect. Being stoned while doing this also allows some people to feel more in tune with their bodies, a key element in the practice of yoga. Marijuana has been part of this method of exercise for a long time, even though there are some who disagree.

The creator of Ganja Yoga, Dee Dussault, promotes the use of cannabis with yoga. According to her, tantric yoga and straight yoga are very different. While straight yoga to the Buddha advocates for purity, tantric yoga says “to use whatever tools are available to get to a place of transcendence”. For some, this method includes using marijuana, which Dussault says must be used “mindfully”. Marijuana is supposed to enhance the experience of yoga, not block it out completely.

The practice of using cannabis and yoga together dates back to ancient times, where the plant was listed in the yoga sutras, documents written in Sanskrit long before Jesus Christ. The sutras are the foundation of yoga and say that using herbs is one of the five methods used in avoiding ignorance. Although marijuana is not mentioned specifically in the text, there are quite a few that believe the herbs mentioned are, in fact, our favorite flower. Yoga, as said before, is supposed to cause extreme relaxation. Marijuana can only help further that journey for the majority of yoga practicers.

Stoner Guide; Titanium Nail Vs Glass Nail

Stoner Guide; Titanium Nail Vs Glass Nail

Dabbing requires a lot of different tools, much like smoking flowers, but these tend to get a little more complicated. With something as hot as a blowtorch heating the nail, it’s important that the material that the nail is made of is tough and long lasting. If there are any sort of impurities in the nail, or it’s made with a less than desired material, the entire dabbing process can be a pain. There are a few main materials that the nails are made of, two of which include titanium and glass. Some stoners prefer one over the other and this blog compares the two!

Glass; The glass nails tend to come with the rigs when they are first bought, much like the standard bowl that bongs come with when they’re first bought. Glass, while working well when used in a bong, can be a huge problem when forming a nail. Since glass can contain bubbles, heating it constantly can cause the bubbles to crack and burst, sending bits of nail shrapnel flying around the room. I’ve actually seen this happen numerous times on YouTube and Instagram. No matter how careful you are with a glass nail, chances are that it will break eventually. However, some stoners have found a way around overheating their glass and causing the lifespan to extend simply by getting a temp gun, which is a device that points a laser at an object and then tells the temperature of the object. No more guessing at where your temp is! There also is an argument that glass doesn’t hold residue as much as Ti does, giving the dabs a better taste. Although, upon further inspection, the same is argued for the Ti nail.

Titanium; With an extremely durable reputation, the Ti nail is a favorite because it cannot break. Titanium seems to be far more common than the glass nail, probably for it’s ability to withstand abuse. Hey, stoners like to dab a LOT! The issue with the Ti nails is that sometimes, they’re not made purely. This can cause a huge difference in taste and durability, preventing the user from getting the full dab experience. Some stoners report a very oily taste coming from the impure Ti nails, which definitely isn’t supposed to be happening if the concentrates themselves are clean. These nails can last for years, although will eventually become brittle after repeated, heavy use. Glass nails, on the other hand, will 100% always break, as the repeated heating and cooling weakens the glass.

The debate comes down to preference. There is no “better” nail. Both of them have their flaws and both of them have their pros. Since most rigs do come equipped with a glass nail, it’s easy to have both around. It’s highly recommended that you give both materials a shot before knocking one of the other. Who knows? You may find a new favorite nail material! Always remember to dab safe and be sure that your medicine has been made correctly, by someone who knows what they’re doing!

Stoner Guide; Top Five Stoner Movies of 2013

The holiday season yields a whole lot of new movies that get pushed in to theaters and of course, everyone wants to see them. Getting stoned and going to the theaters can be really fun. There’s greasy food, candy, and tons of soda. Plus you get to sit around and watch a movie. Can’t go wrong with that. And with the invention of those sneaky vape pens, one can get stoned while watching! This winter was definitely a good one in regards to films and these are the top five movies that you should watch while high!

1. This Is The End

stoner movies stonerdays
With almost every single famous person of this time period, This Is The End is definitely not what I expected. The movie is about the end of the world and features Seth Rogan, James Franco, Danny McBride, Jonah Hill, and more of the best stoner celebs. Definitely a movie that you need to see!

2. The Heat

the-heat-banner stonerdays
Not really a stoner movie but I was dying through this one. Take Sandra Bullock, an agent who has no idea how to have fun and toss her in the same room as Melissa McCarthy, a brutally Boston cop. If you know Boston, you know what her character will be like. The two are forced to work together in order to take down a a seriously awful drug dealer.

3. Anchorman II

Everyone is familiar with the escapades of Ron Burgundy and his severely awkward news team. They finally released the second movie to this favorite film and even though I haven’t seen it yet, I recommend that everyone watches it. I plan on seeing is as soon as possible and you should too!

4. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Steve Carell plays a overly sequined magician who acts like a complete jerk to those around him when a new street magician (Jim Carrey) appears on the scene. I really enjoyed this film. Some people didn’t but I recommend that you watch it yourself and form your own opinion!

Stoner Guide; How To Know You Shouldn’t Smoke

Stoner Guide; How To Know You Shouldn’t Smoke

Before you puff up your chest feathers and say “I CAN DO WHAT I WANT”, realize that there are some people who just can’t handle their shit and smoke weed. Whether they use it to escape from their real problems or they just can’t seem to get their ass off the couch, there are stoners who should not be smoking. You can argue that fact all that you want but it remains true. Cannabis should be used to enhance life, to make it easier. Here are a few ways to tell if someone should give up the ganja.

– Work

job site work stonerdays

Having a job is important and if your smoking is effecting your job – as in you’re leaving early and showing up late just to smoke – you should probably cut back a little bit. Making money is important, especially in this economy. Your job should be very high up on your list of priorities but if cannabis is hindering that, you need to reevaluate.

– Friends

If someone begins to smoke by themselves and only by themselves, you should question their marijuana use. Not all stoners enjoy the social aspect of cannabis but constantly smoking by one’s self can create a wall between you and other people. Be sure that you get a good dose of social interaction and that your only friend isn’t Mary Jane.

– Mental Stability

Cannabis does help a lot of mental issues and allows people to cope with the outside world but it has been found that problems like depression, bi-polar, and anxiety can sometimes be made worse by indulging in marijuana. Be careful if you’re using cannabis to treat these, are sometimes the plant can make the empty feelings seem worse, not better.

– School

There are still stoners that are attending college but if the bong is more appealing then the books, you might want to cut back. Some people really value the image of a diploma on their walls. Don’t let the privilege of smoking cannabis mess up a future that you’re really invested in. An easy way to condition yourself is to smoke after you’ve finished a chunk of school work, kind of like a reward system.

Don’t let your cannabis use effect other aspects of your life. Learning to smoke and balance responsibilities is a key part of marijuana use. If one doesn’t know how to do that, cannabis is usually what gets blamed. But it is the firm belief of many that people who smoke weed and are lazy were lazy before they started smoking. If you can smoke and handle your life like an adult, you’re a truly awesome stoner!

Stoner Guide; What To Do If Paraphernalia Ever Gets Banned

Smoking devices are basically a status symbol these days. The more impressive the glass, the more attention the owner gets. It makes sense with the kind of glass that’s on the market now. Complex pieces that cost a pretty penny should be paid attention to. But what would happen if the law were to suddenly change and all of the glass was to be banned? It almost happened in Florida, where a bill was introduced to ban the sale of all paraphernalia within the state.

Paraphernalia StonerDays 1

Fortunately for us, there are plenty of ways to get stoned without using glass pieces. The first would obviously be rolling papers. Even if paraphernalia was banned, tobacco companies are still allowed to sell papers, so at least there would still be those. Even if the rolling papers were to vanish, the process of emptying out a cigarette and filling it with cannabis would still exist, although the toxins in a cigarette paper are ridiculous. If smoking does come down to this, it’s also recommended that you remove the cigarette filter. Hopefully, there would still be rolling papers available, since the cigarette idea should only be used in a dire emergency.

Stoners have become incredibly crafty over the years. Since those that aren’t over the age of 18, getting a hold of a smoking device can be a huge process. And what if you’re somewhere where there’s weed but no piece? Discovering new ways to use every day items is a skill that most stoners possess. From the simple tinfoil to any sort of fruit or vegetable, stoners know the key to making their own smoking devices at home! There are entire social media pages dedicated to the creativity of stoners who don’t just like to smoke out of the conventional bong or pipe.

The following instructions will teach you how to make an apple pipe, a healthy, wonderful tasting alternative to glass or papers, if you so find yourself in that situation. This pipe not only provides a quick smoking device but a nice snack one you’ve finished smoking! Simply grab an apple and a pen. Remove the entire stem of the apple and then stab a hole through the top of the apple with the pen, stopping about halfway down the apple. Near the bottom of the fruit, poke another hole that connects to the first hole inside the apple. The hole should be off to the side of the bottom of the apple and at a slight angle. The last hole should be on the side of the apple, connecting in the middle with the chamber that you’ve begun to form. This third hole will be the carb so be sure to place it in a spot that will be easy to cover with your finger while smoking. Using a pen or a small knife, cut out a small bowl on the top of your apple. This will be where you put your bud. Stick a screen in the apple and pack up. You’re ready to smoke in an all natural way!

Thankfully, it’s only been Florida to consider passing such a damaging bill and it didn’t even pass there. Florida is now working towards legalizing medical marijuana, ever so slowly. Even if the government was to outlaw the production of glass pieces, stoners will manage to find a way to get stoned, just as they always have. There will always be a way around the laws that are put in place in order to rid cannabis from society.

Stoner Guide; Smoking Yourself Sober

Stoner Guide; Smoking Yourself Sober?

It’s definitely possible to get too high. Smoking too much weed can cause odd side effects for some stoners, although most of the time it just includes passing out in the comfiest spot available. Most smokers don’t ever experience something like this. But there are a select few that smoke enough to the point where they really just don’t feel high any more. As odd as it sounds, this phenomenon is more common than you think and there are forums full of people saying that they’ve dealt with this problem.

There was one interesting post that popped up, stating that when a stoner smokes too much marijuana, the THC receptors in the brain will shut off. This process will drastically reduce the user’s high and will prevent more THC from entering the brain until an amount of time has passed. This would make sense, except that there are other people who can smoke until they reach a certain point, remaining at that point until the marijuana wears off. So why would some people feel sober at this point and some people remain at the specific level of high?

A lot of stoners seem to think that this effect happens when the person has been smoking marijuana for an extensive amount of time. There is such a high tolerance to THC, that the brain just isn’t accepting it anymore. If this does happen to you, it’s recommended that you take a short break from smoking, maybe a week or so, in order for your tolerance to go down and allow you to smoke again. It is tough to stop smoking, but this is the only way that you’re going to be able to get stoned normally.

The more you smoke, the more likely it is that something like this would happen to you. As said above, the simple solution is to take a break. Of course, you could smoke even more But I doubt that your wallet will be too happy with that choice. As always, smoke in moderation and don’t let your tolerance get too high! No one likes taking a break from their favorite herb.

Stoner Guide; Can Cannabis Ruin Relationships?

Whether you’re using the cannabis plant for recreational or medicinal purposes, the plant still possess the ability to ruin relationships. Stoners get to deal with a lot of negativity when it comes to telling their close family and friends about the fact that they use marijuana. There are mothers and fathers who can’t stand the fact that their child uses marijuana for any reason. Brothers and sisters grow apart if their views on the cannabis plant differ and both feel strongly about their opinion. It’s sad but true that cannabis can tear people apart. But there are definitely ways to avoid letting this plant effect your personal life.

While the patients see the medical value in marijuana, some family members may not. Parents and siblings especially can be very stubborn when they find out their child is using an so called illegal drug in order to go about their daily lives. While the patient can present as many facts as they possibly can, it is possible that the family members or significant other will just shake their head in disappointment. Using cannabis is not something that a patient should be ashamed of. If presenting your family with the facts and giving them your testimony of how the plant helps does nothing to sway their opinions, you’re just going to have to agree to disagree.

At this point, some parents/siblings/significant others will just let the subject go. Most stoners are lucky if this happens. Some people choose to ignore what they know about cannabis and who uses it, rather than listen to proven facts. Worst case scenario, you’ll lose a boyfriend or girlfriend and your parents and siblings may stop speaking to you. This is completely unacceptable. When family turns their back on children, it is the ultimate form of disrespect. If this happens to you, all I can really tell you is stay strong. Stick to what you believe in. Parents and siblings will accept it eventually. If you’re dealing with a stubborn boyfriend or girlfriend and they leave you because you’re smoking pot to relieve severe pain and sickness, they aren’t the one for you.

Not all stoners get to smoke weed with their parents, brothers, sisters, and lovers. There are still those that hide it from the people around them. The best way to avoid the awkward situation of getting caught smoking a bowl in a closet one day, it is good to get the subject of marijuana out in the open. Every day, new information is produced that gives merit to the idea of medical marijuana. It gets harder and harder for people to not believe that facts that are presented. From studies to scholarly papers to cancer societies, marijuana is becoming seriously mainstream.

Talking to the people in your life about your usage of marijuana is the best way to educate. By explaining what you know, while family might not understand right away, your ideas will sit in their brain. They will think it over. It took six years of me trying to tell my parents that marijuana is a benefit to the human race and the earth as a whole. Finally, they could no longer deny the facts. Evidence is everything. If you’re going to talk to you family and friends about pot, make sure you have the correct information and you present it in a non-threatening way. Arguments get nowhere and angry people don’t listen. Stay calm, no matter how thickheaded the other person/people are.

Cannabis can ruin relationships… If you let it. By being honest and discussing this subject, you can avoid losing family and friends by having to choose between relationships and the medicine that you require. Family usually comes back together, even if they don’t agree with your views. Eventually, with the constant influx of positive information regarding cannabis, they won’t be able to deny it.

Stoner Guide; The Danger of the US/Canadian Border

Stoner Guide; The Danger of the US/Canadian Border

There are a lot of stoners in the United States and Canada that hold passports, allowing them to cross the borders. There are people that bounce back and forth between the two countries on a weekly basis, never really thinking that honesty could get them in trouble. Of course, in the US, smoking marijuana apparently can get you banned from crossing the border, even if you don’t physically have marijuana on you. Simply admitting to using marijuana can get you banned from the United States.

Jessica Goldstein was on her way to Washington state from White Rock, located in Canada. When Goldstein reached the border, she admitted to smoking cannabis while in Canada several days before. The Canadian resident was questioned for hours, just for telling the truth. What makes this situation worse is that Washington state recently legalized recreational use of marijuana. Since Goldstein was going to Washington anyway, should it really matter? Even disregarding the fact that Washington is a legal state, Goldstein had no cannabis on her. So just admitting to smoking marijuana can now actually get you in trouble.

The traveler and her friends were on their way to a concert in Washington but were questioned repeatedly at the border. When asked how many times she had smoked in her life, she replied honestly and said about 500 times, one of those times being the week before. Goldstein was then given a piece of paper stating that she was inadmissible to the US. She, as well as her friends, were forced to about face and head back home. She wasn’t refunded for her ticket purchases and ended up giving up her seats at the concert. One of the friends Goldstein had with her also answered honestly to the question but wasn’t barred from the US. Talk about some serious unfair treatment.

As usual, the United States government had nothing to say about this particular matter, or the question of how many people have been turned away from the US for just being honest. Michael Milne, the public affairs officer for the US Customers and Border Protection, first stated that he was unable to comment on specific cases due to privacy laws in the US and failed to provide any information how many times an incident such as this occurred. And in accordance with the odd way the US handles these things, Milne then sent an email, sharing a few of the requirements that the US Customers and Border Control has put forth for people crossing in to the States from Canada.

To become inadmissible to the US, you have to be determined to be a drug abuser or addict or you must have been convicted of a crime involving a violation of any law or regulation in the United States. Which means that the majority of citizens in this country wouldn’t be allowed back in, considering that everyone has broken a law at one time or another. Considering that being a drug addict or abuser is determined to be so if one even takes the smallest puff of bud, it could be said that perhaps the US should revise this potentially life ruining policy.

Tobacco is a deadly substance. Even more so because the only thing required to buy it is an 18+ year old license. It’s sold in every gas station that you’ll ever walk in to and causes cancer. But yet, there are still people smoking it and buying it. It’s addictive tendencies keep people paying and that’s what matters. But thankfully, if you have a few days off from work and other responsibilities, you can use marijuana to help you kick the habit for good.

Using marijuana to quit smoking is a great way to avoid tobacco and nicotine in a more natural way, without having to cover yourself in patches or chew gum that tastes like tar. It’s also much less costly, as quitting smoking supplies are a decent amount of money. Heavy smokers who use products like this spend a lot of money on things like Nicorette and similar methods. In reality, those things may be just as harmful as the cigarettes that you’re trying to quit. The gums and patches and lozenges still have nicotine in them. Sometimes these methods work and sometimes they don’t.

The marijuana method is very easy but needs to be done when you have a few days off to yourself, since you’re going to end up smoking a good amount of pot while you’re trying to quit. Every time that you want to smoke a cigarette, smoke a bowl instead. The cannabis will make you able to curb the craving for a cigarette. You’re still smoking something, which satisfies the oral fixation, plus you’re getting stoned, which is far better for your body than smoking a cigarette. But you see why you need to have a few days off to yourself. You’re probably going to be pretty stoned for the duration of the three days that it will take for your body to no longer depend on nicotine.

Quitting smoking is a great idea. If you smoke cigarettes, quitting with the marijuana method is something that you should definitely consider. While it is harder (and possibly illegal) for you to take a joint break at work, your lungs will thank you when you’re not inhaling rat poison, paint thinner, and other carcinogens. You can also put the money that you spend on cigarettes towards buying more weed. By disregarding cigarettes, you benefit in more ways than one. You’ll be a little richer, a little healthier, and a lot happier. Good luck!
